Who are Patrick Dempsey’s 3 Kids? Let’s Get To Know Them

Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd, also known as Patrick Dempsey in real life, is a very proud dad to his three kids with his wife, Jillian Fink.

The couple first got their parent title in 2002, when they welcomed their eldest and only daughter, Talula. Five years later, their family of three became a family of five with the arrival of twin boys Darby and Sullivan. Dempsey loved having a big family because, as odd as it may sound, it felt easier to have three than just one.

“And it’s been great for my relationship with my wife and our life and everything,” Dempsey shared.

Now it’s time to know these three one by one. Come with us!

Talula Fyfe Dempsey

Talula Fyfe arrived on February 20, 2002, and she had her dad wrapped around her thumb. She grew up with a tight-knit relationship with him, spending a lot of time together. They have been spotted horseback riding, hanging out on sets, listening to the news (and discussing them, too!), and driving to school.

According to the actor, he wanted to spend moments with his daughter as much as possible because he knew how quickly those passed. True enough, Talulah’s childhood passed in the blink of an eye, and her big transition from his baby girl to a high schooler left Dempsey with mixed emotions.

Nevertheless, watching her grow into an incredibly creative individual was a treat. The actor shared that Talula became a fan of cooking, and she also spent a summer break in London to study. Although sadly, she spent her senior year in quarantine – which meant no prom.

To make the best out of the circumstance, Dempsey and the whole family organized a “mock prom.” Talula dressed up and had fun with her friends via Zoom.

She graduated high school in 2020 and entered college in Washington, D.C., in 2021. She also spent a summer in Paris before returning for her junior year.

Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen Dempsey

Dempsey and Fink welcomed their fraternal twin boys, Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen, in Los Angeles on February 1, 2007. The couple already had names for their little ones before they arrived, and they each shared a name (their middle name) from their father. However, their big sister picked out which twin got the name.

When they started learning to walk as toddlers, Dempsey found them hilarious. He described their process as a slapstick routine because they looked like “drunk little men” running around the house. When they finally got the hang of it, the actor was in it for a whole lot of action.

Sharing his experience on Jimmy Kimmel Live!he said that boys were very different than girls. They were much more active, and he couldn’t turn his back for even a moment because something was always happening. In fact, there was a broken arm at one point.

Though they may be twins, they were two very wildly different individuals.

First off, Darby was born blonde, while Sullivan had what they described as “Sid Vicious black, punk-rock hair.” Second, the actor said Darby was much more reserved and quiet than Sullivan. “Sullivan is very funny — he has funny expressions in the way he’s taking things in,” he said.

And third, now that they’ve grown up, Darby has been interested in soccer (and his dad even coaches his team). At the same time, Sullivan wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps as an actor. The important part is that whatever they choose to do, Dempsey will support them, and he will be there to give them the opportunities to explore their passions.

So, there we have it. We’re now finally acquainted with Patrick Dempsey’s three kids. It looks like he and his wife are not planning to add more (considering their boys are now teens), but if ever that happens, we’ll definitely let you know!
