Love is something that everyone longs for, but not everyone can experience real love. Couples seem to use a certain formula to make their relationship last long. Alyssa Milano did share in her book the secret behind her long-lasting marriage with her husband, David Bugliari. She revealed that love is a constant state of apology, which everyone should know.

Although many people would agree that love should be a feeling that one shouldn’t say they’re sorry. However, Milano seems to have a different take on real love. She said, “Love, in many ways, is a constant state of apology. It means recognizing the things that you fail at, knowing that the person you love sees them too, and trying so hard to be better at them,”
The most important thing is being loved in return, even with those certain shortcomings. Once love has prospered even with such difficulties, the apology is usually accepted, and it’s usually sincere. For Milano, love is not a casual ‘sorry.’ Instead, love is making amends, forgiveness, success, and failure. In the end, love is a perpetual apology.
Many of Milano’s followers know that her first marriage with Cinjun Tate didn’t last that long. They have stayed married for only eight months. That’s why, when Milano has found new love with Bugliari, a CAA agent, she finds her happily ever after.
As of 2023, Milano and Bugliari are now in their 14th year as husband and wife. The two now have a family of their own, having two children, a son named Milo and a daughter named Elizabella.

They haven’t lasted this long if it wasn’t for each of their individual efforts. It seems like Milano’s blueprint for love and marriage of being apologetic really did work out for their relationship, as she shares in her book.
Considering the couple has been living in the spotlight since the beginning of their relationship makes their marriage even more admirable, especially since it’s so hard to maintain a long-lasting marriage in Hollywood. In her book, Milano also shared some of her struggles with Bugliari and her devastation over her miscarriage years ago.
Throughout her dark times, Bugliari has stayed by her side. One time, after her appointment with her doctor, Milano remembers how devastated she was after discovering that she had another miscarriage.
Somehow, Milano felt like all these traumatic events were God’s way of punishing her for all the abortions she did during her twenties. However, Milano did state that she didn’t regret those actions, considering she was not ready then to have a family of her own. She stated that the whole process wasn’t as easy as people may have perceived it.
In the end, even though she is suffering much pain every day from her miscarriages, Bugliari assures her that at the end of the road, they will surely have a baby of their own. Milano detailed everything in a statement:
“As we sat in the parking lot of the medical building after that appointment sobbing and holding each other, he grabbed my face, looked into my eyes, and said, ‘It’s okay. We’re going to have another baby. A better baby. That baby was a Red Sox fan.’ And in that moment of some of the most desperate pain I have ever felt, I laughed.”

During all this time, Bugliari has been her number-one support system. She somehow couldn’t surpass such a predicament if it weren’t for Bugliari’s constant assurance and care.
Now that they have finally built their own family, as they have always wanted, their marriage is stronger than ever. Milano’s message about the importance of apology and forgiveness in relationships has struck many.
Based on research, when an apology is made with respect and sincerity, it allows a relationship to be fixed if broken. As the relationship heals, it will also grow in the process.
As for marriages, since couples tend to get into more heated and serious arguments during such a phase, apologies are vital in making a whole relationship work. Many people can learn something from Alyssa Milano and David Bugliari’s marriage.
