Born on November 18, 1968, Owen Wilson has been one of the movie industry’s most popular and well-loved names since the late nineties. And in his 30 years in the industry, Wilson has not only earned a long list of blockbuster films, nominations, and awards but also made big bank. Currently, the actor has an estimated net worth of $70 million.

And the question is, how did he amass this fortune?

The Debut

The 53-year-old Dallas-native started his film career in 1996 with the American crime comedy film “Bottle Rocket,” which he co-wrote with director Wes Anderson. The two also shared writing credits for Anderson’s next two directorial films, “Rushmore” and “The Royal Tenenbaums.” As an actor, he got his breakthrough role with “Anaconda” in 1997, which exposed him to huge audiences.

After that, he got cast in huge roles in multiple films and franchises.

Owen Wilson has starred in classic action-comedy (“Shanghai Noon” and “Shanghai Knights” with Jackie Chan), favorite romantic comedies (the hit “Wedding Crashers,” “You, Me and Dupree,” “Marley & Me,” and “How Do You Know”), crime comedy (“Masterminds”), and fantasy comedy (“Night at the Museum” series). Aside from being an actor, he is also a screenwriter and producer who has collaborated multiple times with American filmmaker Wes Anderson. He also tried voice acting for animated films (“Cars” series) and even appeared in music videos by The Killers and Johnny Cash.

The Comeback

After a few years off camera, he is gracing the big screen again. In 2021, he teamed up with Salma Hayek for the drama film “Bliss.” A year later, he reunited with Anderson for the anthology comedy-drama “The French Dispatch,” partnered with Jennifer Lopez for the romantic comedy-drama “Marry Me,” and took on a superhero role (but still comedy) for Paramount+ film “Secret Headquarters” alongside Michael Peña and Walker Scobell.

Oh, and he’s also the newest addition to the MCU playing Mobius M. Mobius in Disney+’s series “Loki.” And also in line for rumored sequels for his blockbuster hits “Wedding Crasher” and “Shanghai” series.

Real Estate Portfolio

Aside from making bank as an actor, Wilson also earned from his property investments. He has properties in Los Angeles, specifically in Malibu and Santa Monica. He also acquired a property in Hawaii. In total, his real estate portfolio is estimated to be around a whopping $40 to $50 million!

Owen Wilson’s $70 million net worth is not so surprising, considering how much he made as an actor and as a real estate investor. And with an MCU addition to his resume, we can expect that it will only go up!
