Here’s What Every OG “Pitch Perfect” Cast Member Is Doing After The Movie

When the comedy musical movie “Pitch Perfect” hit the theaters in 2012, the whole cast, with their aca-awesome singing and harmony, snatched everyone’s hearts.

They nailed the musical – from the “Cups” song to the riff-off and down to their final performances, the Barden Bellas and the Treblemakers got people stuck in a Last Song Syndrome (LSS) phase. They hit Bull’s eye with the humor – who could forget Fat Amy’s response to Aubrey asking about her nickname, “Yeah, so twig b*tches like you don’t do it behind my back.”

Of course, they absolutely understood the assignment when it came to the romance part. It was cliché, but no one can say they didn’t get all giggly with Beca and Jesse’s final scene.

Because it was such a hit, the movie got two more sequels. The second one in 2015 and the last in 2017, and both sequels even surpassed the original film’s box office numbers!

It has been years since the last installment of the musical franchise. Sowhere are the original cast members now?

The Barden Bellas

The Barden Bellas is an all-female acapella group at Barden University in Georgia, loosely inspired by the real-life “Divisi” of the University of Oregon.

Anna Kendrick as Beca Mitchell

Anna Kendrick plays the lead character, Beca Mitchell, an aspiring music producer. She joined the Bellas as a way to appease her father, but by the end of Pitch Perfect 1, she had become the group’s leader along with Chloe Beale (Brittany Snow). She was romantically linked to Skylar Astin’s Jesse Swanson, whom she met at the school’s radio station as an intern.

After Pitch Perfect 3, Kendrick enjoyed a successful movie career in acting and producing. In 2018, she co-starred with Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively for “A Simple Favor.” A year later, she got a titular role in the Disney+ Christmas Comedy “Noelle.”

2020 was definitely a good year for her. She reprised her role in “Trolls World Tour.” She starred in the Quibi comedy series Dummy (and she also served as executive producer), where she earned a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. She also appeared in HBO Max’s Love Life, which she produced.

In 2023, Kendrick made her directorial debut with “Woman of the Hour,” a film about the serial killer Rodney Alcala. Multiple critics lauded it, and it even initially scored 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

As for her actual love life, Kendrick dated cinematographer Ben Richardson from 2014 until 2020. A year later, she and comedian Bill Hader connected. They broke up in June 2022.

Brittany Snow as Chloe Beale

Brittany Snow takes on The Bellas’ kind co-leader duo, Chloe Beale and Aubrey Posen.

Things weren’t always good with her, as Aubrey always pushed her around. Then, they came to a point of confrontation when Beca made a remix performance for the Bellas.

Aubrey got mad, Chloe defended her, and Aubrey told her she didn’t have to pretend to have a voice in the group. After the conflict passed, they sang on stage together. Eventually, they graduated — well, Aubrey did. Chloe purposely failed Russian Literature to stay with her girls.

Snow hasn’t taken on a lot of projects since Pitch Perfect. Among the few movies she did were “Someone Great” (2019), “Hooking Up” (2020, which she also produced), and “X” and “Christmas with the Campbells” (2022).

She played the main role of Julia Bechley in the 2019 series Almost Family. She also appeared in one episode of Not Dead Yet.

The actress also made her directorial debut in 2023 with “Parachute,” which tackled addiction, eating disorders, and anxiety with a light touch. Just like Kendrick, her film garnered a long list of impressed critics.

Brittany Snow tied the knot in 2020 to professional surfer Tyler Stanaland, but they called it quits after two years. She filed for divorce in January 2023.

Rebel Wilson as Patricia Hobart, aka Fat Amy

Rebel Wilson’s portrayal of Fat Amy is iconic as iconic gets. We all know Fat Amy as Beca’s best friend and the Bellas’ comedy representative. Her comebacks were always a hundred percent hilarious (and eccentric), but her vocals were no joke. Her audition performance of “Since U Been Gone” was a smash.

She got involved with Bumper Allen (Adam DeVine), and they became an item in the second installment. Unfortunately, they didn’t last long and broke up in the third movie.

Wilson didn’t have a work drought after Pitch Perfect. In 2018, she joined Beauty and the Beast: Live in Concert as LeFou. In the same year, she graced the cover of Vogue Australia for the first time.

In 2019, Rebel starred in two comedies: “Isn’t It Romantic” (her first solo lead role as well as first producer credit) and “The Hustle” with Anne Hathaway. She also did Jojo Drama, “Cats,” “Senior Year,” and “The Almond and the Seahorse.” Aside from movies, she also hosted gigs, including Seven Network’s Pooch Perfect.

Wilson is happily engaged to jewelry and fashion designer Ramona Agruma.

The Rest of the Bellas

Alexis Knapp as Stacie Conrad

First up is Alexis Knapp, who played the role of the over-sexually driven Stacie Conrad. She has had a few projects following her Pitch Perfect stint, including two films, “Phobias” (2021) and “The Accursed” (2022)., and a one-episode appearance on The Orville.

For 2023, she just finished filming the dark, radical comedy-drama “Another Day in America,” written and directed by Emilio Mauro.

Knapp has a daughter named Kailani Merizalde with ex-boyfriend, actor Ryan Phillippe.

Hana Mae Lee as Esther

Then we have Hana Mae Lee, the actress behind the silent beatboxer Lilly Onakuramara, aka Esther. After the film ended, she took on the neo-noir thriller TV series Perpetual Grace, LTD. The show received good ratings but wasn’t renewed for a second season.

Lee then joined the cast of “The Babysitter: Killer Queen” as Sonya in 2020. A year later, she took on the role of Jewel in “Habit” and co-starred with Knapp in “Phobias” as Sami.

In 2023, she was part of the cast for Evan Marlowe’s puppet horror film “Abruptio.” She recently revealed her band, Caravaggio Died in Exile. It released their first single, “Salome” (with lyrics written by her and her brother, Jae Lee).

Ester Dean as Cynthia-Rose Adam

Next is Cynthia-Rose Adam, the lesbian of the group, portrayed by R&B singer-songwriter Ester Dean. Dean hasn’t been active on the acting side since the movie franchise culminated.

She only did one voice acting role for the “Trolls World Tour” with fellow Pitch Perfect alum Anna Kendrick. She’s mostly busy on the music side.

In 2021, she won Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Country Music Awards for “Champagne Night.”

Shelley Regner as Ashley Jones

We also have Shelley Regner, who portrayed one of the lesser-known members, Ashley Jones. She did several movies like “Running with Fear” and “Waking Nightmare.” As for TV series, she appeared in Adverse, Monster Killers, and Seven Sitters in July

Anna Camp As Aubrey Posen

Last but definitely not least is Anna Camp, who played Aubrey Posen, the very uptight and traditionalist co-leader of the Bellas.

After Pitch Perfect, she had a recurring role in Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She also starred in “Desperados” in 2020. And it looks like she’s gearing up for more projects in 2023.

Camp dated co-actor Skylar Astin in 2013, a year after the first film. They got engaged in 2016 and wed the same year.

Sadly, after three years of marriage, they divorced. A year later, she announced on Instagram that she was dating drummer Michael Johnson.

The Treblemakers

Then we have the Bellas’ rival group, The Treblemakers. They’re loosely based on Divisi’s all-male counterpart, “On the Rocks.”

Skylar Astin as Jesse Swanson

Skylar Astin plays Jesse Swanson in the movie, a Treblemaker (but not so much of an actual troublemaker), and Beca’s love interest. Their relationship is quite complicated because the Bellas apparently have a rule that they can’t date a Treblemaker. She pushed him away, telling him to back off, and he had difficulty getting over her.

During the Bellas’ final performance, Beca sang the theme song of “The Breakfast Club, Jesse’s favorite movie. Then they kissed and made up.

Astin has been very busy since Pitch Perfect. For films, he participated in “Hot Air” (2018), “Ghosts of War” and “Secret Society of Second-Born Royals” (2020).

As for his TV roles, he had several main actor roles under his credits, including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Trolls, and So Help Me Todd. He also had a recurring role as Todd Earnes in the popular medical series Grey’s Anatomy.

He also did stage performances like How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Into the Woods, and Little Shops of Horror. He also released singles, which are all uploaded on his Spotify

He and Anna Camp were married for three years before they divorced in 2019. After Camp, he dated Jack Osbourne’s ex-wife, Lisa Stelly, but they split after a year. He doesn’t appear to have dated after Stelly.

Adam DeVine as Bumper Allen

Adam DeVine is the actor behind the arrogant, self-centered leader of the Treblemakers, Bumper Allen. In fact, he was so arrogant that he dropped his group when John Mayer contacted him to become his backup singer. He was also Fat Amy’s boyfriend-turned-ex.

DeVine’s acting career proved to be successful after the whole acapella thing. In 2018, he played the lead in the romantic comedy film “When We First Met” (which he co-wrote). He also nabbed a role in “Game Over, Man!” directed by Newacheck and produced by Seth Rogen.

A year later, he debuted in the HBO comedy TV series The Righteous Gemstones, created by Danny McBride. In the same year, he and Wilson reunited again as lovers in the romantic comedy “Isn’t It Romantic” with Liam Hemsworth.

Aside from a successful career, DeVine also has a very successful love life. He started dating actress Chloe Bridges in 2015. Four years later, he announced via Instagram that he finally put a ring on her.

Then, in 2021, the couple tied the knot. On October 2, 2023, they told fans they were expecting their first child!

Ben Platt as Benji Applebaum

Ben Platt portrays the magician/singer Benji Applebaum. He’s a certified Treblemaker fan, particularly Bumper’s and Jesse’s roommate. He didn’t become a member until Bumper left to sing as a backup for John Mayer.

Since the film ended, he has been the busiest cast member, with acting and music projects left and right.

His most notable film and TV works were Netflix’s The Politician, where he earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, his reprised role for “Dear Evan Hansen,” and “The People We Hate at the Wedding.”

He also returned to the theatre stage in 2022 in New York City’s production of “Parade.” His portrayal of Leo Frank earned him positive reviews.

Ben Platt also released music, including his debut studio album, Sing to Me Instead, and his second one, Reverie. In 2022, he kicked off his Reverie Tour.

Platt is happily engaged to actor/singer Noah Galvin, who succeeded him in the lead role of “Dear Evan Hansen.”

The Commentators

Pitch Perfect wouldn’t be complete without the hilarious commentators John Smith (John Michael Higgins) and Gail Abernathy-McKadden (Elizabeth Banks).

John Michael Higgins as John Smith

Higgins did a lot of film and TV projects after the film concluded. His movies included voice roles for “Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold” and “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” The Movie.” As for TV series, he nabbed the main role as Principal Toddman in Saved by the Bell

Higgins has been married to actress Margaret Welsh since 2003, and they share two kids.

Elizabeth Banks as Gail Abernathy-McKadden

On the other hand, Elizabeth Banks has dipped her toes in directing and producing. (She actually directed Pitch Perfect 2!) Among her popular works were “Charlie’s Angels” and “Cocaine Bear.” Banks has been married to her college sweetheart, Max Handelman, since 2003. They have two sons, Felix and Magnus.

That’s a wrap on our OG “Pitch Perfect” cast! And now, let’s binge-watch.
