Meet The Dog Who Stole Every Scene He’s In In “The Proposal”

If you’ve watched the 2009 romantic comedy“The Proposal” starring Sandra Bullock (Margaret Tate) and Ryan Reynolds (Andrew Paxton), then you’ve already met Kevin the dog. Kevin is the adorable fluffy white Eskimo dog of the Paxton family.

Kevin is an Eskimo dog all the way. He is high-spirited, cheery, and loyal to their humans. He definitely loves all of the members of the Paxton family, especially Andrew and Grammy. However, Margaret was kind of different, and the two have had some adjusting to do.

For one, Margaret got him swooped up by an eagle (She left the door open, so he had to take the chance to go out). She did rescue him, running around the garden as she spoke on the phone. However, when the eagle dropped Kevin and snatched her phone instead, she didn’t hesitate to hold him up to propose an exchange.

Kevin then took the opportunity to exact his “revenge” against Margaret. When she got out of the bathroom naked to grab a towel, he cornered her. She tried to intimidate him with a hairdryer, but he stood his ground and even made himself comfortable.

Unfortunately, Margaret won again. She had the wits to turn the mat he was on and free herself. Worse, she locked him inside.

Though Kevin and Margaret didn’t have the best relationship, Flurry and Bullock did.

Kevin is actually played by four different dogs, namely Flurry, Sitka, Nanu, and Winter. Out of the four, Flurry is the set’s favorite. According to a rep for the movie, he and Bullock also fostered a special bond.

In between their takes, the actress would wrap him in her bathrobe and apologize, saying she didn’t mean to hurt him. It looked like Flurry accepted her apology. In one scene where he was required to bark at her, he rebelled against the script.

It wasn’t Flurry and his friends’ first gig on the big screen. They also starred in Emma Roberts’ film “Hotel for Dogs.” When they’re not busy acting and enjoying Hollywood, they live quiet lives with their trainers in Los Angeles.
