Drag legend, LGBTQIA icon, and reality TV show host RuPaul Charles added the latest title to his longtime partner’s name: Georges LeBar, and it’s “husband.” The two had been together since 1994, but it was only in 2017 that the two finally and officially got married. They actually kept the news for months, and RuPaul only revealed it when he appeared on an episode of Hollywood Today Live.

It all started on the dance floor in 1994.

RuPaul Charles, who first rose to fame in ’92 for his instant hit song “Supermodel You Better Work,” met his prince charming in 1994. It was LeBar’s birthday, and they were both out at Limelight Club.
RuPaul easily spotted the 6-foot-7 man who was, in his words, ‘dancing like a crazed person.’ He asked him what he was doing, and that was that. RuPaul said it was love at first sight for him that night, and LeBar definitely felt the same.
The two enjoyed each other’s company and partnership for 23 years, but it was the 2016 presidential elections that ultimately spurred the couple to marry. In RuPaul’s interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2017, he said they knew they were devoted to each other.
They thought they didn’t need to stand in a ceremony and get married to prove that. But with the happenings at the time, they just felt they had to do it. “Let’s just do it, because there’s too much at stake with our businesses . . . so, that’s why we did it.”
The couple exchanged vows in a small ceremony in Los Angeles on their 23rd anniversary. But the TV host clarified that the paper didn’t change anything in their relationship because they have always loved each other.
Who is Georges LeBar?

Well, unlike his TV host husband, LeBar prefers to spend his days away from the limelight. However, he supports his husband by attending several red-carpet and Hollywood events with him.
Georges LeBar is an Australian-born rancher who manages over 60,000 acres of land in Wyoming and South Dakota. But according to The Famous People, he is also a painter, poet, and published writer. In fact, in 2007, he released his first book, a collection of his oil canvases titled “Six Inches Away.”
In the same year, he also published “Pillow Talk,” a collection of his paintings inspired by C.M. Clark’s poems. And The List reported that on his now-defunct website, LeBar noted that he had done extensive work throughout the fashion and design industry.
He is also 13 years younger than RuPaul.

A lot has also been curious about their relationship setup, and yes, RuPaul and LeBar are in an open marriage. Opening up with Vanity Fair in a video interview in 2019, RuPaul shared that he wouldn’t want to put restraints on the person he loved most on this planet.
He wanted LeBar to go for anything that would make him happy. After all, the host knew in his heart of hearts like he had known anything before that his man loved him more than anything else in this world. As of the writing of this article, RuPaul and his husband, Georges LeBar, have no children.
