Actor Taye Diggs first met former Love and Hip Hop star Apryl Jones on his Instagram’s Explore page, and their relationship blossomed after he slid into her DMs.
Diggs admitted on Erinn and Oliver Hudson’s podcast Unconsciously Coupled that when he was single, he used to scroll through his Explore page, which was apparently filled with gorgeous women like Jones. He also shared he had a love-hate relationship with it, saying that he “hated” them because they looked so perfect.

Then, every once in a while, he would hit someone’s profile. When he came upon Jones’ comical lipsync videos making fun of motherhood, he didn’t hesitate to slide down her DMs. He said, “You’re hilarious.” However, he didn’t expect any reply because he honestly thought he was way out of her league.
Jones had the same thought when she saw that he DM-ed her. When she saw what was in it, she knew he was hers. She replied, “Really? Me? No, you’re hilarious, but thanks.” Then she told him she couldn’t do the Instagram stuff and gave him her number instead.
“If you want to talk to me, you can text me,” Jones concluded.
Of course, he did just that. They exchanged messages for about a month and a half before finally meeting in person at a restaurant in LA. They totally hit it off and ended up talking for hours until the staff told them they needed to go because they were the only ones left.

The couple was first spotted in December 2021, and then weeks later, Jones made her debut on Diggs’ TikTok account. It was definitely on brand for them and, of course, a big step in their relationship. (If you’re not updated, Diggs went viral when he joined the platform, gaining 1 million followers in a short span of time.) At this point, they hadn’t made any official statements about their status.
In February 2022, they made their red carpet debut when they attended Diggs’ premiere for “Incantation,” which basically confirmed that they were an item. A month later, they attended Vanity Fair’s annual Oscar party.
Fast forward to June, Jones shared a photo of her kissing the actor. They enjoyed each other’s company in September as they vacationed in Bora Bora. Then, in November, Jones posted another photo of them at Stevie Nicks’ concert, and they weren’t shy about showing off their affection to each other.
It looked like the two also spent some quality family time over the holiday season. That’s because, in January 2023, the actor shared a photo of him and Jones’ daughter A’mei cuddling.
Jones already had two children (a son named Megaa and a daughter named A’mei) with her ex-boyfriend Omarion. The two had been co-parenting, and according to her ex (a singer-songwriter), they were moving toward a better relationship. He had also met Diggs and had nothing but good things to say about the man.

In his appearance on Sway in the Morning on SiriusXM, Omarion said, “He seems like a cool dude. He has kids of his own and he’s an older man so I only expect good things from him.” He’s referring to Diggs’ son, Walker Nathaniel, whom he shared with singer Idina Menzel.
In April, Jones and her kids spent some fun time with Diggs in Disneyland. A few months later, rumors of the two breaking up appeared on different news sites. The two didn’t comment on it. However, more people grew curious about their status after 10-year-old Megaa appeared on his mom’s Instagram Live.
During the session, he kept repeating that the actor wasn’t there and even questioned Jones when she said they were texting daily. As of writing, Taye Diggs and Apryl Jones still haven’t said anything about their relationship. We’ll have to stay tuned for the updates.
