Liam was born out of a brief affair between Kevin Costner and Bridget Rooney shortly after his divorce from his first wife, Cindy Silva, in 1994. His mom welcomed him on November 15, 1996.
According to sources, Costner didn’t acknowledge Liam until a paternity test which Rooney insisted upon, proved that he was indeed the father. The two only occasionally saw each other though the actor reportedly paid child support and set up a trust fund in Liam’s name.
He grew up with his mom, and when he was around ten years old, his mom married businessman, sailor, and collector William “Bill” Koch. He now goes by the name Liam Rooney Koch.

William Koch, also known as Bill Koch, is the founder and president of the energy development holding company, Oxbow Group, based in West Palm Beach, Florida. He used to work at Koch Industries, one of the largest private companies globally. However, he sold his stake to his brothers Charles and the late David in 1983 after a long legal dispute.
Aside from being a businessman, he is also into sailing. In fact, his yacht America 3 defeated the Italian challenge Il More in the 1992 America’s Cup.
