“Too Hot to Handle” Couples: Who Are Still Together And Who Aren’t?

In its five-season run (so far), only two couples have ultimately survived Netflix’s dating reality show Too Hot to Handle. There were actually three who were still together at the start of 2023: Emily and Cam from Season 2, James and Brittan, and Seb and Kayla, both from Season 4. As of June, James and Brittan looked like they called it quits.

Too Hot, Too Hot

So, here’s the premise of the show: Every season, they mix up ten hot, single, ready-to-mingle, and notoriously commitment-phobe individuals in an island villa for a four-week sexy vacation and a chance to win $100,000.

Now, here’s the catch: They have to abstain from all forms of sexual contact. For every rule broken, a corresponding amount is deducted from the prize.

Yes, it’s chaotic. Utterly chaotic

At the end of the show, some chose to embrace the single fling-style life while some ventured into the unknown life of commitment. Of course, fans of the show are curious which ones of those who exited with a partner are still together.

Status Check

Let’s take a look at the status of the couples and go through them by season.

Lydia Clyma and David Birtwistle, Season 1

Status: Broken Up

David spent most of his time on the show alone, but in the final episodes, he and the late arrival, Lydia, made sparks fly. They shared a bed and agreed that they both wanted to see where their relationship could go – which, unfortunately (and quickly), headed to a breakup. David confirmed their status in April 2020.

Sharron Townsend and Rhonda Paul, Season 1

Status: Broken Up

Sharron and Rhonda hit it off right off the bat. So, it wasn’t surprising that they struck up a relationship during the show and became official by the end of it. The more surprising part was that they broke up shortly after filming.

Rhonda explained in an interview with Women’s Health that the long distance was a factor in their split. That is because the two didn’t even have the time to meet in person since the show.

Francesca Fargo and Harry Jowsey, Season 1

Status: Broken Up

Francesca and Harry couldn’t keep their hands off each other during their four-week stay, which cost the group around $30,000 in fines – except for one night. After dating for a year, they decided to call it quits due to COVID-19 restrictions. A year later, reconciliation rumors circulated, but Francesca quickly denied it.

Christina Carmela and Robert Van Tromp, Season 2

Status: Broken Up

Christina and Robert arrived mid-season and made out constantly, costing the group a $8,000 penalty. Their antics didn’t just cost them money but also the whole thing. They were sent home three days before the finale. After getting kicked out, they dated for nine months.

Carly Lawrence and Joey Joy, Season 2

Status: Broken Up

Joey was Carly’s rebound after a mismatched connection with Chase. Surprisingly, that turned into a genuine romance, and they decided to pursue a relationship after the show. But things didn’t end well for them. In August 2021, Carly Lawrence accused Joey of cheating on her Instagram stories.

Melinda Melrose and Marvin Anthony, Season 2

Status: Broken Up

Marvin and Melinda became a couple after spending a chaste night in the private suit. Unfortunately, they didn’t last long. The two shared on the reunion episode that they were set to reunite on their trip to Mexico, but Marvin canceled it after they got into a fight.

Emily Miller and Cam Holmes, Season 2

Status: Still Together

It was sparks all over when Emily and Cam met at the villa. They were so into each other that they weren’t concerned about the fines they incurred for breaking a few rules.

They’re still going strong, and just last February 2023, they announced that they just bought a new home together! However, it hasn’t been an easy road for the two as they took a brief break last 2022, and Emily also suffered an ectopic pregnancy, which led to her fallopian tube getting removed.

Beaux Raymond and Harry Johnson, Season 3

Status: Broken Up

Harry and Beaux‘s romance was a slow burn and, quite frankly, a bit uneventful compared to the others. That is because they followed the rules as they built their connection.

However, that served them well since they ended up winning and taking what was left of the prize pot. They broke up shortly after, but they remained very close friends. Still a win.

Holly Scarfone and Nathan Soan, Season 3

Status: Broken Up

Nathan and Holly racked up a $150,000 tab (the biggest in the show’s history) because of their horniness. There wasn’t a deeper connection between the two, so fans weren’t the least bit surprised that they didn’t make it far after the show. However, according to them, the long distance and Holly getting her degree caused their split.

Jawahir Khalifa and Nick Kici, Season 4

Status: Broken Up

This couple raked in $41,000 in fines, coming in second with their season castmates Seb and Kayla’s $68,000. However, it was well worth it for them since they won the rest of the pot. It was well spent too, with all their around-the-world adventures. Then, by the end of it, they broke up.

Brittan Byrd and James Pendergrass, Season 4

Status: Broken Up

James followed the rules to a T as much as he could and as much as Brittan wanted to break them and cost them money. Brittan almost didn’t make it home with him after a brief fling with Ethan.

After filming, the two took a brief break but confirmed they were in the “dating phase.” That break seemed to have since become permanent.

Kayla Richart and Sebastian Melrose, Season 4

Status: Still Together

Kayla and Seb were season four’s resident rule breakers. They started small, then graduated to a steamy shower sex in the villa’s communal bathroom. They dated after filming but confirmed they broke up post-premiere. That said, they’re cuddly and cozy again on social media, so it’s safe to say they’re back together again.

Christine Obanor and Louis Russell, Season 5

Status: Broken Up

Christine was always that one person who egged Louis on not to follow the rules all throughout the season. Louis didn’t budge, except for a one-time cheeky boob touch on his date with Linzy. In the end, he decided to take his chance with Christine.

The couple dated for a year and a half before calling it quits. They didn’t seem to have any bad blood, and Christine still called him the man who heated up her cold heart.

Elys Hutcherson and Alex Snell, Season 5

Status: Broken Up

Elys first dated Hunter before she moved on to Alex. However, she found it difficult to open up and be vulnerable after going through her parents’ divorce. Because of that, she was given a strict time limit to put her guard down.

She won that season’s full $100,000 prize, which she split with Dre. For six months after the show, she and Alex dated. Unfortunately, they didn’t work out and went their separate ways as friends.

No one really expects Too Hot to Handle couples to survive after the show. While we are all out in support of the last two, standing strong and still together, we know that things can change easily for the worse. Hopefully, they thrive and walk down the aisle together as Mr. and Mrs.
