Zach Wilson Makes A Witty Remark On His “Slept With His Bestfriend’s Mom” Controversy

The New York Jets quarterback, Zach Wilson, was embroiled in a social media controversy in 2022, with his ex-girlfriend Abbey Gile alleging that he slept with his best friend’s mom. The athlete was not just a pro on the field but also in handling issues. Amid the online frenzy, he posted a photo on his Instagram with his boys with a single-line caption saying, “Poor cell service…what I miss?”

What happened?

It all started with Dax Milne’s Instagram post – who, to those who had been following the world of football, was known as Wilson’s former Brigham Young University teammate – with an unidentified woman on the beachside.

Fans quickly claimed that the woman was Wilson’s ex, Abbey Gile. In response, Gile apparently confirmed that she was dating the football wide receiver. However, she has since deleted her post.

Here’s why it’s a big deal: Wilson and Milne, though former teammates, had started being distant from each other earlier in the year, at least on social media

What made the post even more of a big deal was the comments section, where Gile claimed that her ex-boyfriend slept with his mom’s best friend. The comment immediately went viral, and that specific post of Milne’s no longer showed or allowed comments. Additionally, Gile’s own account seemed to have been deleted.

While the comment no longer existed, it didn’t mean that fans wouldn’t be looking into it. In fact, it just made everything more interesting for everyone, and everyone went into investigative mode. Then, a few days later, Wilson finally broke his silence with a very witty post.

He uploaded a photo of him and a few of his Jets teammates at Gozzer Ranch in Idaho ahead of camp. Then, in the caption, he asked what he missed since they had poor cell service while on the ranch.

The Jets’ verified Instagram account was among the first to praise the quarterback for his sly approach with a saluting emoji. Then came comments from his fellow teammates, who definitely had his back.

First was Jets wide receiver Braxton Berrios’ “That’s my QB. Berrios was one of the Jets who went on the Idaho trip. Then there was Michael Carter, the Jets running back, who simply wrote, “legendary.”

Football players from other teams also dropped by with a string of laughing emojis, including San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance and Pittsburgh Steelers Pat Friermuth and Kenny Pickett.

Other sports teams also caught wind of the social media frenzy. NBA point guard Donovan Mitchell commented, “Caption comedy 😂.”

The Zach Wilson controversy eventually died down when no one could figure out who that “mom’s best friend” really was. Gile went quiet and didn’t make any further statements about it. As for Zach Wilson, he’s currently dating TikToker and social media influencer Nicolette Dellanno – which he confirmed in June 2023 in an interview with Desert NewsThe two were first romantically linked in June 2022 after they were spotted at a New York Yankees game.
