Tall, Dark, and Familiar: Who’s Alfie Before Emily in Paris?

Did it feel like Alfie of Emily in Paris got your heart too easy for your own good?

Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) is the newest addition to this mish-mash of a love story. Between our 20-something doll Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), and his girlfriend Camille (Camille Razat), he sure did fire up the scenes minute by minute.

Before he appeared in your daydreams after his stint in Emily in Paris, here’s where you might have seen Alfie before:

1. Lucien laviscount started young at various British TV productions

Started as a British child actor, Lucien grew up in Burnley, England, appearing in various TV commercials.

While he appeared on various episodes of BBC shows, his big break caught him when he was only 14. You might have known him as Jake Briggs in the famous kids’ show “Grange Hill (2007-2008).”

With two series and 13 episodes in total, Lucien continued appearing on British TV soon after he finished his role at Grange Hill.

His good looks truly serve him best as he starred as the heartbreaker Ben Richardson on “Coronation Street (2009).” He played as a high school team captain for 34 episodes in this soap opera.

Soon after, he played the rebellious high school, Jonah Kirby. He appeared on 19 out of 20 episodes of BBC One’s “Waterloo Road (Series 6).”

2. He was THE Earl Grey on Scream Queens

After his role on “Waterloo Road (2010-2011),” Lucien finished 5th in UK’s “Celebrity Big Brother.” Small roles in the original “Shameless (2011)” and “Skins (2013)” got him occupied then.

In 2014, he officially introduced himself to the American audience as he did roles in “Supernatural (2014)” and “Episodes (2014).”

A year later, he appeared as Earl Grey in the Season 1 of “Scream Queens.” You might remember him taking on a smaller role until he went big as his situationship with Zayday Williams (Keke Palmer) bloomed into a semi-serious relationship.

3. He starred in “The Bye Bye Man”

Before he became our mysterious Alfie of Emily in Paris, he was John in the horror film “The Bye Bye Man (2017).”

It’s one of his tricky movies as an actor. Yes, it sure didn’t serve Lucien best, but it helped stir the audience’s curiosity about him for his future roles.

4. His biggest role was Billy Ayres on Snatch

In one of his most substantial roles yet, Lucien starred in Alex De Rakoff’s adaption of the hit movie “Snatch (2017).” Sure, he acted alongside Rupert Grint, whom you might recall so well.

Yet, Lucien’s performance wasn’t dimmed by the bright stars in the same room as him. He was nominated for Best Supporting actor at the UK National Film Award.

5. Lucien Laviscount brought Archie Comics’ Alex Cabot to life on Katy Keene

Lucien appeared in all 13 episodes of the official “Riverdale” offshoot: “Katy Keene (2020).”

If you’re deep into the Archie Cinematic Universe, you might remember this gorgeous Brit exchanging his pennies for some Archie’s comics. His short-lived role as Alexander “Alex” Cabot was well-received.

Following his role in this spin-off, he played a small role in the TV series called “Threesome (2021).”

Two seasons down, another one coming up. Emily in Paris may have received mixed reviews from across the globe. Some true-to-life Emilies have debunked a series of over-the-top scenes which they find hilarious and obnoxious at best. But nothing an interesting love affair in the City of Lights can’t pull off. After all, the love for drama unites us all, especially when there’s a British hunk like Alfie involved.
