Why was Mad Men star Christina Hendricks constantly asked about her bra during the filming of the show?
Hendricks was cast for seven seasons as Joan Holloway, a charismatic secretary turned ad executive who didn’t put up with nonsense. Over those seven seasons, the actress received many sexist questions and comments. Eventually, she can’t just stay quiet about it anymore.
The show was set around the 1960s and featured the period’s clothing. In an earlier interview with The Guardian, the actress expressed her dismay with the attention she endured while appearing on the program, particularly the coverage of Joan’s clothing.

In her interview, Christina Hendricks also talked about the allegations of sexual assault against Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner made by Emmy-winning former writer Kater Gordon. While they were co-workers in 2008, Kater Gordon claimed that Matthew Weiner informed her that she owed it to him to let him see her naked.
Joan Holloway, Christina’s character, is known for her tight-fitting outfits, which display many body features, especially her chest. Because of that, Christina Hendricks is often asked about her bra size.
Christina revealed that there was a moment when she received many compliments for her excellent work and tremendous effort. However, people suddenly just got curious about her bra. In addition to that, people also started asking about Christina Hendricks’s breast size and whether they were real.
The Good Girls star recently addressed criticisms about how she looked in 2011, stating that her breasts were natural but conceding that she was surprised that the topic had even been raised.

Many female actors struggle to get their big break due to the lack of recognition and opportunities, which many believe are easily given to the opposite sex. The media would instead focus on objectifying the women of the industry rather than lifting them into the limelight for people to recognize and applaud their outstanding works.
Since they are female, these actresses get fewer opportunities to show their talents and get appropriate roles without getting naked in front of the camera. The problem of sexism is very much hindering the women of Hollywood, and it’s so unfair how they are being left out and continue to be the topic of obscene comments.
Despite her dismay about the issue of her bra, Christina Hendricks could still walk her way into the center of the stage and earn multiple awards. From OFTA Television Awards to the Emmys, Christina was able to sweep them all and throw those sexist comments into the bin.
