The HBO series Euphoria is webbed with complicated, tension-filled relationships like Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer) and Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), whose storyline started in the worst way.
To recap, Nate created an online identity named ShyGuy118, also known as Tyler, to ‘romantically pursue’ Jules and make her fall in love with him. This was after Nate watched his father’s porn collection and realized that he had slept with Jules. Then, the two grew closer over the next few days, sharing fears and dreams. They also started becoming more intimate with sexts in between conversations.
Then, he blackmailed her with the nude photos she sent him.
And when they finally met, and Nate finally exposed himself, he explained his plan to Jules if she ever endangered his family’s social status. He told her that he would ruin her life by sending her photos to the police and getting her branded as a sex offender.
However, in season two, it was revealed that Nate had grown in love with Jules. And fans jumped in hard to ship the two. According to a Reddit user, the two characters looked like they had also developed a romantic relationship off-camera. Jacob openly expressed how Hunter was his favorite cast-mate and how they talked for hours on set. They liked each other’s posts on Instagram and even commented occasionally. Jacob even uploaded two posts of them together – one where he was holding Hunter’s hand, and the other was on the set of the rave scene (S02E07) where they were looking at each other.
But as season 2 went on, the spark between Jules and Nate started to fade away. Nate also became abruptly entangled with another character, Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney), which left many fans wondering.
The Drama
According to rumors, Hunter and Jacob had a falling out and refused to film together. This coincided with Jacob’s rumored relationship with fellow actor Zendaya, who portrays Rue in the series. And at the same time, the two stopped liking each other’s posts, Jacob deleted his posts with Hunter, and Hunter unfollowed Jacob, which all further intensified (and validated fan theories that the couple broke up). After Zendaya, Jacob was also reported to have been involved with other people.
There hasn’t been any official announcement or comment about this from the actors and the show. But it looks like the two are back on good terms. Fans noticed that Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi are now following each other again. With that, maybe we’ll see if their characters will ever get back together in Season 3 or at the very least, get an explanation of what really happened between them for closure.
