In 2008, music producer Jaymes Foster and her best friend Clay Aiken welcomed their son, Parker. Foster gave birth to their 6-lb, 2-oz baby boy on August 8, at 8:08 a.m. in North Carolina. The two first revealed that they were expecting in June, and they conceived via in vitro fertilization.
Speaking with PEOPLE seven months into being parents, Foster shared how challenging her pregnancy journey was and how the experience was so far as a 50-year-old mom.

During her pregnancy, she thought she’d be one of the lucky ones. Unfortunately, the nausea hit her so hard early on, and she had to deal with it alone until she found a medication that helped eliminate it. Other than that, it was a breeze.
As for being a mom at 50, she was confident that she was at the right time in her life to be one. She honestly didn’t think she was ready back in her 20s or even in her 30s. She wanted to travel the world and build her career, which she successfully did. “I’ll hopefully do a good job. If I don’t, Clay will be all over me,” she added.

According to the music producer, Aiken was an incredible caregiver and a natural one at that. She said that he was good at changing diapers and had a handle on knowing what was wrong with their baby and getting him to sleep. Aside from that, he also took care of clipping Parker’s nails, which was something she was nervous to do on her own.

Baths were definitely hers, as she figured he had already taken on the nail clipping.
Jaymes Foster and Clay Aiken were dear friends before having Parker. After having him, their bond definitely grew even greater and deeper. She accepted his choice to acknowledge that he’s gay publicly, and it will never change what they have and what they are to their son.
