Flipping Out fans know that the one who can calm Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward when they’re arguing is their daughter, Monroe. The couple has been known to have problems outside and inside the public eye. Despite being together for a decade, the pair eventually realized their relationship didn’t work out and separated in February 2019.
However, a light has shone upon Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward as they reached common ground in being co-parents to their daughter. Before all that, here is a timeline of the Flipping Out Stars’ relationship and how they are constantly working to better their co-parenting arrangement.

The pair met and started dating in 2009, where they kept things lowkey about the details of their romance. In 2011, when Gage Edward first appeared in Flipping Out, they officially made their relationship visible to the public.
Their relationship started when Gage Edward was in his twenties, and Jeff Lewis was in his thirties. Their romance lasted for a decade after that, so that’s why it’s somewhat hard to believe that a decade-long relationship can go out just like that.
Gage Edward served as the business manager for Jeff Lewis outside of their relationship. Though being business partners with your significant other seems ideal, it wasn’t for both of them. The two were usually seen in the show clashing heads and arguing.
Although it did make good drama to spice up the show, it didn’t do good in their relationship throughout the years, which led to its eventual downfall.

The former couple had already been hinting about their plans to take their relationship to a new level in 2013. On October 25, 2016, the pair welcomed a new little addition to their family, a little girl named Monroe Christine Lewis.
Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward’s baby was a surrogate from an egg donor and Jeff Lewis’ sperm. The couple seemed happy when their daughter was born. Gage Edward even praised his partner for being a great hands-on dad and incredibly nurturing towards Monroe, and he even called Jeff Lewis a “primary caregiver.”
Although raising their little girl wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the couple, even when raising a kid is already challenging, that wouldn’t be their only struggle regarding their baby.
In 2018, the couple had to undergo a vast hurdle that took the form of a lawsuit filed by their surrogate mother. She claimed she was suing for invasion of privacy and fraud as Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward filmed her without permission as she gave birth to their daughter, Monroe.
Luckily, a year later, in 2019, the surrogate dropped her lawsuit. Fortunately for the pair, she cannot refile the case again since she filed under prejudice.

Despite a decade-long romance and a little girl together, the pair publicly called it quits in January 2019. In a February 2019 episode of Jeff Lewis’ Radio show, he was asked by his guest, Judge Lauren Jake, about why he and Gage Edward broke up despite being together for a long time.
The Flipped Out star eventually confessed that he was to blame for their break up. He claimed he had commitment issues and different ideas about marriage than his former partner. He also admitted that he closed himself off emotionally from Gage Edward.
Jeff Lewis not only lost Gage but the following months before the separation, he also lost his grandmother and his 20-year friendship with Jenni Pulos-Nassos, who was also assigned to be Monroe’s godmother.
Jeff Lewis told People Magazine that Monroe was the only one keeping them together.
It was also revealed that they were no longer sleeping in the same room shortly before their separation. At some point, their romance fully wilted as Jeff Lewis described their home life like they were in a “roomate situation.”
After the breakup, the two went into a lengthy custody battle. They reached an agreement in 2021 about having 50/50 rights to physical and legal custody.
Monroe Still Has Their Two Dads Supporting Her All The Way
Despite all the things that Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward have done to each other, there’s one thing that they’re doing right. That is, being supportive and loving fathers to Monroe.
Even though the two have their partners and have moved on from their past, with Gage Edward having his own business and Jeff Lewis busy with his radio show, they never fail to show a united front for their daughter. The former couple is always present in the most critical events in their daughter’s life, namely her birthday parties and graduation.
That’s not all; in 2022, Jeff Lewis started making headlines about giving Monroe another sibling. Unfortunately, his attempts to surrogate another baby never succeed, leading to the Flipping Out alum realizing that maybe he’s only meant to have Monroe as his kid.
In 2023, Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward are doing great after separating, as they still co-parent their daughter, Monroe. Jeff Lewis also reportedly adopted a dog and seemed happier than ever. It only shows that a family can still be as good and supportive even with the parents not being together anymore.
