NBA shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. just said his “I do” in front of family and friends to his longtime love Shylynn in their beautiful wedding set at Puerto Rico’s St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort last July 9, 2022.
Thanks to their masterful wedding planner, Melissa Andre, it was a dream come true – from the ceremony down to the reception. Kelly shared that Melissa captured them as individuals, as a couple, and as a family. She did so while tying all those things to the representation of their love.

Kelly and Shylynn went for a galaxy theme for their wedding because, as Kelly said, “How much more infinite can you get than outer space?” The most important piece in their decoration was Venus, which they called their planet. According to the couple, it symbolized “love and beauty,” a metaphor for their forever love.
The two first met through mutual friends and started dating in 2020. And their relationship was that type wherein they saw each other, and they never left each other’s sight after that. It was forever and always between them.
Aside from incorporating the stars and the planets, they also wanted guests to experience the island life – “a beautiful euphoria that only some dream of.” Wherein in their minds, they were in 24/7. In fact, they call this place “T$unami Island.”
According to Kelly, they chose the location because the resort was the ideal wedding location. Second, it’s where Shylynn’s family roots were, and they wanted to experience the place for the first time together.
Third, they had been eyeing getting on a trip to Puerto Rico for years and exploring the black sand beaches, the rainforests, and the famed bioluminescent bay. They initially wanted it to be their first trip together, but COVID-19 happened, and they couldn’t do so.
The long wait was so worth it, though. Everything came straight out of their own fairytale.
For the event’s details, their planner, Melissa, ensured that everything from the tables down to the floors was designed with “completely unique and custom fabricated elements.” So, she had custom-made furniture pieces, immersive artwork, and floating walls decorating the venue.
To transport the guests to the couple’s infinite love, she got the floors in the dining space mirrored. Explaining the “trick,” Melissa said, “So that you couldn’t tell where the edges of the immersive artwork moving on the walls started and stopped.”

For her wedding outfit, Shylynn chose a 2-in-1 Beyonce-esque gown – a beaded sparkly dress with a big and puffy skirt attached, inspired by her dream as a little girl to wear a Cinderella dress. She wore the whole fit for the ceremony, and then for the reception, she rocked the sexy beaded dress.
Wedding or not, the stunning bride knew her dress could turn necks – just like her personality. As for her glam, she was in full-beat Shhy Beauty, her very own vegan beauty line.
Kelly matched his bride with an all-white fit accessorized with silver jewelry.
The outdoor venue was filled with 25,000 bloom installations in white, and guests sat like in a fashion show. It helped create that intimate space for Shylynn and Kelly to tie the knot. Of course, before they did, their adorable daughter Malibu, who wore what looked like a mini version of her mom’s bridal dress (complete with the tiara), made her chic entrance as their flower girl in her 2022 pink Maybach.
According to the couple, Malibu had just learned to walk a few months before the wedding. They didn’t want her to get distracted or lost in the whole art installation, so they opted to get her in a toy car and drive her down the aisle. And needless to say, she owned her moment.

Reflecting on their special day, Shylynn and Kelly said that their favorite part was standing at the end of the aisle. They completely zoned out and got lost in each other’s eyes like they were alone on the beach.
Kelly also added that their marriage was undoubtedly the right timing for them. He said, “We wanted to take the next steps and give our love to God for his seal of approval.”
Continuing, he shared that it was rare for their generation to get that far in relationships. What pushed them was their pact to break a curse that had been in both of their families for lifetimes. And they were just so ready to be together forever.
So, it was a no-brainer for them that the best way to do it was to tie the knot.
