If you haven’t watched Netflix’s Sex/Life Season 2 trailer yet, we suggest you take a deep breath first. Trust us. It is spicy – so spicy it might even make you sweat. Are you ready?
Let’s Rewind
Steamy hit drama Sex/Life, inspired by BB Easton’s novel “44 Chapters About 4 Men,” was created by Stacy Rukeyser and was first released in June 2021.
It follows the story of suburban mom Billie Connelly (Sarah Shahi), the love triangle she has been caught up in with her ex-boyfriend Brad Simon (Adam Demos) and her husband Cooper Connelly (Mike Vogel). It also tackles the conflict building up inside her with what life she would like to live: her free-spirited, youthful past in New York City or her now calm life as a mom of two living in Connecticut.

The more she lingered on the nostalgia, the more she wondered how she turned from a wild city woman to a wife and a mom. Soon, her thoughts wandered to fantasies about her passionate exploits with her ex.
The first season ended with a heavy cliffhanger in episode 8. After Billie’s heated affair with her ex Brad, she reconciled with Cooper. Unfortunately for Cooper, Billie’s heart was with Brad, so she returned to her.
Second Chapter: Are you ready for more?
The highly-anticipated second season was first announced in September 2021, just months after the release of its first chapter. It was posted on Instagram alongside multiple clips of the season’s most scandalous scenes.
The caption asked fans if they were ready for more, and they definitely were. In fact, the first season reported strong viewing figures, recording over 67 million households tuned in in its first four weeks.

Finally, last February 3, 2023, Netflix dropped the second season’s trailer.
It started with Billie narrating, “One of the most important decisions you’ll ever make is who to spend your life with.” Then they played a montage of sultry, steamy scenes and unveiled a new man that fans should look forward to. As if Billie’s life wasn’t already complicated with two men, another one gets added to the mix.
However, that wasn’t the only dramatic twist they had in store for fans. Brad and Cooper looked like they weren’t also sitting around and waiting for Billie to come around. So, there is a high chance that fans will get entangled in a complex web of relationships this season.
The trailer concluded with a man saying, “You have a choice you need to make.”
Sex/Life and Empowerment
When the show got picked up for a new season, showrunner Rukeyser expressed how Sex/Life was a dream come true. “To create a show about empowered female sexuality that has entranced so many millions of viewers is not only immensely fun but also incredibly gratifying.”
She also talked about how inspired, thrilled, and grateful she was for having the opportunity to tell Billie’s story. Even more so knowing how the show and her story had personally impacted women around the world.
