Maurizio Gucci’s ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani’s net worth remains quite a mystery. Many have made their estimates, stretching from a million to ten million dollars.
All people knew about her these days (aside from the fact that she hired a hitman to murder her ex-husband) was that she lived in a townhouse in Milan with her pet parrot, and apparently, she was annoyed with Lady Gaga, who played her in the House of Gucci.
So, here’s our attempt to find out how rich she is.
First, Let’s Get to Know Her Chaotic History

Patrizia Reggiani didn’t come from a high-profile family. However, her father always spoiled her with fine things like mink coats and fast cars. In time, she found her way into Milan’s elite social circuit. She met Maurizio at a party, and according to her, “he fell madly in love with her.”
The two wed in 1972, and it didn’t take long for them to earn their status as a celebrity power couple amongst the elite.
Reggiani would often throw lavish color-themed parties and go on trips to private islands with their 64m wooden yacht, the Creole. Among their estates were a ski chalet in Saint Moritz, a farm in Connecticut, and a holiday home in Acapulco.
The couple would also spend their time in New York, usually in style, in a luxury penthouse in the Olympic Tower bought by Maurizio’s father, Rodolfo. They explored Manhattan in a chauffeur-driven car and even had a customized plate, “Mauizia,” and hung out with Kennedies whenever they were in town.
However, things started to unravel with the death of Rodolfo in 1983 when Maurizio inherited his 50% stake in Gucci. He battled with his relatives, who owned half of the firm, for years and then ultimately bought them out with the assistance of Investcorp.

He maniacally controlled everything, and soon enough, the company’s fortune and his own wealth dwindled down. In 1993, he was forced to sell Gucci for $120 million to Investcorp.
Their marriage also met its end after that. According to Reggiani, she was filled with rage that her husband lost the family business. To her, it was a stupid failure, and he shouldn’t have done that to her.
They divorced in 1994, and Maurizio agreed to pay her an annual alimony of $1.47 million. A year later, he was shot dead on the steps outside his office.
In 1998, Reggiani was sentenced to 29 years in prison (reduced to 26 after an appeal) after it was discovered that she hired the hitman who gunned down Maurizio Gucci. She got out after 18 years for good behavior, and it would’ve been earlier, according to the Italian press, if she had accepted the offer to work as a condition of her parole in 2011.
She was used to a life of privilege, never worked a day in her life, and didn’t intend to do so at any time.
However, she did accept a design consultancy work for the jewelry company Bozart under the same program three years later. Then, after an additional two years, she was finally a free woman.

It wasn’t clear when she dropped out of her job at Bozart, but by 2021, her employment status was reported to be unknown, according to South China Morning Post.
Nevertheless, not working wouldn’t break the bank as the court awarded her continued annuity from Maurizio’s estate (despite her daughters Alessandra’s and Allegra’s protest). That included her $16 million backpay that she didn’t enjoy during her time in prison. (Her daughters inherited their father’s millions, including his assets.)
Even with those, Patrizia Reggiani claimed she was a nullatenente or bankrupt in English translation. So, she had zero net worth. According to Ansa, she wasn’t even interested in taking a single cent from the biopic of her family.
