Ross Mathews And Wellinthon Garcia’s Beautiful Mexico Wedding!

Last May 2022, the famed ‘RuPaul Drag Race’ judge Ross Mathews and his husband Wellinthon Garcia said their “I Dos” in a beautiful beachside wedding right where they first met – in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The Planning

The couple actually struggled while they were planning where the wedding would be held. Mathews lived in Los Angeles while his then-fiancé resided in New York. According to Mathews, it even came to a point that it gave him such anxiety.

It was Drew Barrymore who saved the day. She told them they should do their wedding where they were supposed to, and the people who were supposed to be there WILL be there. So, they followed her advice and ultimately chose to do it at the place where they first met.

They invited a total of 130 guests, including Barrymore, who also interestingly agreed to be their flower girl.

As the story went, Mathews was frequently on The Drew Barrymore Show as a guest. Then, one day, when they were doing a story about weddings, the actress-host asked if he would have a flower girl at his wedding. To which he quipped, “Why? You want the gig?”

She got excited and asked if Mathews was actually asking her to be his flower girl. They had a few “Are you serious?” exchanges before they finalized that Drew Barrymore would be their entourage’s flower girl.

Mathews and Garcia wore custom tuxedos by Robbie and Co. for their special day. The wedding was held at Almar Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with 110 guests in attendance.

Mathews thought that, at best, there would be 50 since it was a destination wedding. So, he was definitely thrilled to see that most of their invitees really came to celebrate with them.

To thank them, the guests received a skincare set – toner, facial SPF, and lip balm – from Mario Badescu upon arrival at the resort. Talk about a luxurious gift bag!

For the ceremony proper, Garcia’s father walked them both down the aisle. Raquel, Garcia’s sister, was their pride of honor, while Eric, Mathew’s brother, served as the best man. For the ring bearers, they brought their nephews, Evan and Andrew.

Mathews and Garcia opted for a more personal route, writing their own vows to each other. Mathews shared that he wrote his on the train into the city, and he couldn’t stop his tears from running down his face. He felt overwhelmed with all the things he wanted to say to Garcia.

After the vows, the two exchanged rings designed by Jemanjian at OIS & Co.

The guests had a lovely fill of bruschetta, sashimi, fresh fish, beef, and salad for the reception. There was also an assortment of vegan options to cater to everyone. Then, they had Garcia’s choice for dessert: a red velvet cake.

They also had live music with local artists performing. Mathews specifically chose locals to be a part of their celebration because it was important for him to capture the culture of Puerto Vallarta. For the after-party, they switched to a DJ.

The entire wedding celebration was planned and coordinated by celebrity wedding and event planner Michael Russo.

After the wedding, the couple spent a few more days in Puerto Vallarta with their guests. As for their actual honeymoon, they went just outside Puerto Vallarta to Las Alamandas Resort

Ross Mathews and Wellinthon Garcia enjoyed every bit of their wedding, and it’s all thanks to everyone who made time to join them and celebrate with them.
