Stacey Dash’s Estranged Husband Claimed Hypnosis Influenced Him Into Marrying Her

In a new court filing obtained by TMZ in August 2018, actress Stacey Dash’s ex-husband, Jeffrey Marty, made allegations that he consented to their marriage under the influence of hypnotic prayer techniques. In light of that, he requested for a speedy annulment.

Dash married her lawyer husband and fourth legal partner, Marty, on April 6, 2018, in Florida, just ten days after they first met. Marty revealed in the documents that Dash’s pastor “unexpectedly and suddenly proclaimed that it was God’s will” for them to tie the knot.

He then went on to claim that he was hypnotized into marrying the actress but did not provide any further explanation, as per TMZ, regarding the matter.

Dash’s publicist, Claudia Greene, responded that it’s a free country where people are free to make baseless allegations. With that being said, the actress also filed her own response, stating that she was unaware of her estranged husband’s mental state during their marriage. She also referenced the famous “War Games” line, “Sometimes the only way win is not to play.”

The actress was the first to file for a divorce petition back in June in Pasco County, Florida, listing their separation date as October 1, 2019. Before that, she made the breakup announcement via Instagram, writing that they had decided to end their relationship.

After much prayer, she felt it was the right path for both of them. She also wished Dash the best and then signed off by thanking everyone for their support and for respecting their privacy.

That said, it wasn’t the first time they grabbed headlines. Back on September 29, 2019, just a day prior to their listed separation date, Dash was arrested and investigated for domestic battery.

According to a report published by the Daily Mail, it was the actress who placed the call to the police, claiming that her husband had put her in a chokehold. However, when Pasco County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene, they noticed that Marty had red scratch marks on his left arm.

Ultimately, no charges were pressed, and a statement obtained by PEOPLE read that the arrest was just a formality. Marty appeared in court on September 30, and Dash was released from the Land O’ Lakes detention facility. According to the Pasco County court records, Stacey Dash’s husband also paid her $500 bail.
