Pro skateboarder and model Brooklinn Khoury gave fans a glimpse of the extent of her injuries following an aggressive pit bull attack that ripped off her upper lip and chipped off a part of her nose.
What Happened?

According to Khoury, the incident happened while she was visiting her cousin’s house in Gilbert, Arizona, in November 2020. She was standing in the kitchen when she went and approached her cousin’s eight-year-old blue-nose pitbull, Diesel. They had met many times before, so she wasn’t worried at all about petting him.
However, Diesel suddenly lunged at her, and he was hanging off of her lips. It’s a good thing she had a sense of how to navigate the situation.
She immediately got on the ground with him, held his head, and moved with him. After struggling for what probably felt like a lifetime, she finally felt a release. “And then, something flew and hit the wall,” she recounted.
Khoury then stood up, and as she took a deep breath, she tasted blood. When she looked down, she saw her shirt soaked in blood. Khoury then noticed a pink lump on the floor and quickly realized it was her upper lip due to the pimple she was so insecure about that she cropped it out from a photo she sent to her friend. She carefully wrapped it in a napkin and headed over to the emergency room.
How Bad Was It?

In the clip she uploaded on TikTok in response to a follower asking for a photo of that day, she said that she knew it was bad. However, what she didn’t know was how bad it really got. She looked around her hospital room for mirrors but didn’t find one. So, she took out her phone from her back pocket to see the reflection of her face.
She then unknowingly took a photo of her bandaged face with blood from the wounds still visible. She shared that, along with a censored photo of her immediately after the attack with her face covered in blood.
According to Khoury, the raw photo tremendously helped her doctor, Dr. Nicholas Do, see the original bitemarks and map out what had happened to her.

Unfortunately, despite the quick response, the surgeons couldn’t save her upper lip. Since that tragic incident, she’s gone through several reconstructive surgeries to repair her injuries and hopefully get her face to look as it was before.
Later that week, the model posted a photo on her Instagram. It was a selfie from her hospital bed with the caption, “hug somebody you love.” She also shared every chapter of her recovery with her fans, just as she did with her skateboarding. She always documented the successes and the failures.
