Pro skateboarder Brooklinn Khoury revealed in a TikTok video the dramatic change in her look before and after her accident.
Let’s backtrack a bit.
On November 7, 2020, Khoury shared on Instagram a photo of her lying on a hospital bed hugging a teddy bear with a thick gauze taped over her mouth. The reason behind this was that four days prior, she was attacked by a Pit Bull, which left her with her whole top lip and the edges of her nose ripped off.

She tried her best to stay positive, but she was honestly scared about her future if she could smile or eat normally again. Weeks turned to months, then to years, and throughout that long period of time, she had undergone numerous reconstructive surgeries.
In December 2022, Khoury posted a series of photos showing her progress. She shared how she felt like a stranger in her own body and how she struggled in a society infatuated with perfection. Every time she looked into the mirror, she saw someone trying to love the person in the reflection but simultaneously scared of what she saw.
Ultimately, she thanked God for giving her strength and providing her with people who were always there to help her grow.

In another post, she shared pieces of wisdom she had picked up as she persevered through the challenge. She wrote how looking back at her photos before made her feel in a way that she couldn’t put into words. “But what it does is it shifts my perspective on how precious life is, and also time,” she continued.
Never in her life did she imagine that something like that would happen to her, but it did. Through the process, she learned a lot about life and happiness.
She ended her message on an encouraging note, telling fans and followers that whatever they’re going through, it will get better.
Then, last January 2023, she answered a question on TikTok that said, “Are you able to smile as bright as you did before everything happened?”

According to her, her current smile was different from how she smiled before. She had a lot of teeth showing back then, but at that point, she just felt comfortable smiling without them because her lip was still so long.
She then updated everyone on her progress, saying that she’d be having her next surgery, where her doctor would lift up her lip. Hopefully, after that, she’d be able to show her teeth a lot more and get her original smile back.
Brooklinn Khoury is trusting God and the process. She posts about her progress occasionally and always makes it a point to spread positivity. Like her, we also pray and hope she will return and look like her old self before the accident. For now, she’s skateboarding again and enjoying life.
