Jon Bon Jovi and his wife since 1989, Dorothea Bon Jovi, started the first chapter of their love story in high school. They both attended Sayreville War Memorial High School in New Jersey, and according to the rock singer, she let him cheat off her in history. As cliche as it may sound, he was drawn to her the minute he laid eyes on her.
Nine years later, they married in Las Vegas and didn’t tell a soul. They’re still happily married with four children: a daughter named Stephanie and three sons named Jesse, Jacob, and Romeo.
Here’s a quick look back at their life together in photos.

On October 2, 1988, Jon Bon Jovi and his girlfriend (turned wife) Dorothea attended a party for Prince at Roseland in New York City. The couple matched with black tops, denim pants, and black boots. What can we say? They’re the epitome of the word “cool.”
But did you know that they briefly broke up in 1985? Yes, that happened, and Bon Jovi actually dated actress Diane Lane for five months. But they reconciled, and now they’re in it forever.

Here’s a throwback black and white photo of them together in formal attire, smiling at the camera while they clinked their wine glasses. Jon Bon Jovi posted it on his Instagram in April 2021 to celebrate their 32nd anniversary. Along with that photo was a sweet message that said, “If I got one thing right back in high school, it was falling in love with this girl.”

Here’s them a year married, all kissy and adorable, attending the 3rd annual Silver Clef Awards. Bon Jovi has never been shy in showing his affection for the love of his life.

The couple looked fancy in their 1991 Academy Awards outfit, with Dorothea decked out in a sparkly purple gown while Bon Jovi wore an oversized maroon corduroy tuxedo. It was the first of many red carpet events they attended and definitely one of the most memorable.

Bon Jovi and Dorothea are also active advocates of providing food and home to those in need. In 2006, they founded a non-profit organization, JBJ Soul Foundation. They partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build and renovate homes and created a Community Restaurant.

The couple attended the Winter Whites Gala at the Kensington Palace in November 2013 with their kids to raise funds for the homeless charity Centrepoint.
A few months before this photo, their eldest, Stephanie, overdosed on heroin and almost died. The experience rattled the two, but they weathered through it together just like always.

In 2018, the whole family was out in full force as they supported Bon Jovi’s band induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
When Jon Bon Jovi was asked about the secret between his decades-long relationship with his wife Dorothea Bon Jovi, he simply said, “We really like each other. We want to hang out.”
