Crawley first met Moss in July 2020 on the set of The Bachelorette Season 16 at the La Quinta Resort & Spa in Palm Springs, California. She was the season’s lead, and it didn’t take long for her to find her bachelor. The moment she laid eyes on Moss, she was all in. And by the fourth episode – which was just 12 days after meeting each other – they got engaged.
In a later interview, Moss revealed that the only reason he committed to the show was because of Clare. He explained that he never actually signed up and even turned down the offer numerous times. And he only decided to do so just four days before everyone was set to leave for filming because it was only then that it was announced who the Bachelorette would be.
But their love story was short-lived. On January 19, 2021, Moss made the breakup announcement on Instagram. After the post, Crawley claimed that she was made aware of the mutual statement at the same time as the public, so she needed the time to digest what had happened. A source also shared with PEOPLE that Crawley felt blindsided by the decision to break up. She genuinely thought they could make things work.
Then a month later, the two were spotted together. First, it was at a bar in Florida, then a week later, they were seen cozying up to each other by a resort pool. But their reconciliation didn’t last long either, as they split again in September 2021.

Well, the drama began after Crawley posted on Instagram on September 30. In the caption, The Bachelorette alum spoke up about the breakup, mostly just ‘shading’ her ex-fiancé and the other parts sharing her struggles. And tagged in the photo was the Bachelor in Paradise star Heringer.
Her post came in just a few hours after Instagram gossip account Deuxmoi shared an anonymous tip that “a recent Bachelor Nation winner hooked up with someone from BIP season 7 who is getting a ‘good girl edit.’”
One source exclusively confirmed with Us Weekly that Dale Moss and Abigail Heringer did hookup before. However, it was clarified that it happened when Moss and Crawley were on a break (and Heringer was allegedly under the impression that the couple was no longer together) before Heringer appeared in the spinoff series.
According to the insider, Crawley found out after the rumors started floating. She tagged the “third-party” on the photo to let everybody know she knew. Heringer went on to untag herself but didn’t offer any comments.
But another source refuted the hookup claims and said that Moss never had any romantic interactions with Heringer. They further explained that the two met once in New York City at a flag football event that other Bachelor cast also attended. They went to a bar afterward, but nothing happened between them. They emphasized that Moss never cheated on Crawley.
Moss gave a statement a few days later, addressing both breakup and cheating rumors. According to his rep, the couple broke up in mid-September while Crawley was in New York City with Moss. After the split, Crawley flew home to Sacramento and asked Moss to send her things.
Then a couple of weeks later, after hearing news about Crawley’s mother’s worsening condition, he flew out to Sacramento to be with his ex. The next day, the drama caught up in waves. Moss didn’t make any further statements with the media and simply requested that they respect his and Crawley’s privacy.
