TLC is known for its controversial yet entertaining reality TV shows. The network has a wide range of shows for viewers, and one of the most known is the weight loss series ‘My 600-Lb Life.’ One of the casts of My 600-Lb Life, Christina Phillips, has been making headlines after she made a stunning body transformation that shocked many.
Since the show’s first season, released in 2012, Phillips has garnered much attention as her life as an obese individual was aired on television. Viewers are excited to follow her journey as she aims to change for the better by losing weight.
Contrary to what many people might think, Phillips isn’t the heaviest girl in the show. It is actually Pauline Potter. However, Phillips has made headlines because of her inspiring journey.
Phillips’s weight loss journey isn’t just something she wanted to do for the sake of the show. Phillips wanted to be healthier and live the life she had always wanted. Before her stunning transformation, Phillips reportedly weighed more than 600 pounds. What’s worse is the fact that she was only 22 years old at that time.
Being so young, yet unhealthy, made Phillips feel insecure about herself. Seeing all these girls online, being their best versions, somehow urges Phillips to take a step forward and work on herself finally.
Other than that, she has also shared that her weight significantly impacted her day-to-day life. Phillips states that she struggles to do simple chores such as cleaning, washing, or even walking inside her house due to her overweight body. In an interview, she described herself as “trapped.”
She also stated that she tends to freak out whenever she sees the scale go up. Considering the consequences it may give her, Phillips decided to stop eating for a few days, which was probably the most devastating part of her journey.
She has also revealed that although she started to diet and work out in hopes of losing weight, Phillips continued to struggle with anxiety over gaining her weight back. All this constant thinking then started to affect her as well. Luckily, the star was advised to get therapy to help her get mentally healthy.

When the news broke out about Phillips losing so much weight and maintaining it made fans go crazy about her. During the 2015 “Where Are They Now?” special on TLC, viewers anticipated updates regarding Phillips’s journey, which didn’t disappoint them.
However, how did Phillips lose so much weight in such a short time? Well, it turns out that the TLC star has undergone gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Now, ultimately leading her to her desired body weight and appearance.
However, although she had already lost over 500 pounds, Phillips still feared that she’d go back to her old self and live the same life all over again. She described her whole dilemma in an interview, saying she doesn’t know how to change her feelings about things.
Although she successfully kept the weight off following her gastric bypass surgery, the reality star was now coping with many other challenges. However, Phillips does indeed try her best to improve her mindset every day.

Although some may think that Phillips losing weight is all thanks to surgery, it turns out that she needed to put in the hard work herself.
During her initial consultation with Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, much known as Dr. Now, for Phillips to become an eligible candidate for gastric bypass surgery, she must lose weight by herself first.
With much determination, she tries to stick to a diet and work out every day. Even though it was not easy on her part, she lost around 300 pounds, a good amount before she could go through the life-changing surgery.
Phillips was so excited when she received the news of her getting the surgery. It was able to help her shed another 200 pounds, which now led her to weigh around 185 pounds, her episode marks.
We must not forget the fact that she didn’t get there easily. Not everything has been perfect for Phillips since her season aired in 2014.

Phillips had never expected that her losing weight would lead to her marriage. After the long and tough journey of being the best version of herself, Phillips has worked on herself to become mentally strong. However, she had never anticipated that big changes would be waving at her after her weight loss journey.
While it may shock many, Phillips’ husband, Zach, did not support her transformation. In an interview, Phillips shared that she slowly realized that her becoming independent from Zach was not something he wanted. She even went so far as to call her former relationship “abusive.”
The good news is that the star had better days ahead. Just a year after updating viewers about her struggles with mental health and in her marriage, Phillips was back with a new, very positive outlook on her life.
It shows that her weight loss journey has positively impacted her. It has improved her quality of life and made her the best version she has ever wanted. For those struggling with their weight loss journey, take Phillips’s story as a motivation for you to work hard every day.
It is important to persevere, have self-belief, and seek support when needed. We hope Christina Phillips from ‘My 600-Lb Life’ journey will also serve as your sign to pursue your own transformation.
