When you are one of the NBA’s most valuable players, but your child is a fan of someone else. That is what happened to Stephen Curry and his son, Canon. In an adorable video, Canon fanboyed another player instead of his father.
After the game, in which the Warriors won 123-107, the Golden State Warriors point guard was doing a brief interview with his son Canon while heading back to the locker room. Canon ended up stealing his father’s spotlight with his charming actions.
You might think that having Stephen Curry as your dad automatically makes you his number-one fan, but that’s not the case with Canon. Steph Curry’s son stared at Klay Thompson with admiration and extended his hand multiple times to greet him.
When they got to the changing room, Canon exclaimed, “Hello, Klay Thompson.” The cute incident amused the other participants.

Canon Curry, 5, obviously loves basketball, just like his dad. Stephen Curry once shared photos with Canon while on the court together. Stephen shared a series of black and white pictures with Canon dressed in a little basketball uniform with his jersey number 30 on the back while having an adorable practice.
There was also one instance when Steph was asked if his kids were impressed with him, and the NBA star was reluctant to say yes. He answered that he hoped he could, but it was probably for different reasons. Steph added that his kids do not care how many balls he gets in on every game because he is just a dad when he gets home, and all those NBA titles do not matter.
On Canon’s fifth birthday, he was called ‘Young Wolf’ by his mother, Ayesha Curry. As the youngest of the three siblings, Canon is said to have a headstrong, courageous, wise, and loving personality.
Also, being the youngest might be why he is pretty naughty and free-spirited. It is no surprise that he idolizes any basketball player he wants, even if it’s not his father.
More Than Just a Game – How NBA Players Impact Young Fans
As one of the most prominent sports organizations worldwide, the NBA has touched many lives, especially the youth. For example, as part of NBA All-Star 2023, the NBA family promised to interact with the larger Utah community through five youth basketball competitions and social impact activities. They aimed to unite people through volunteerism, philanthropy, and instilling basketball-related values in young people.
The social impact programs will emphasize children, education, hunger, and economic inclusion. The NBA also vowed to continue using its platform to open doors for students from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) during the NBA All-Star weekend. Over $3 million was pledged to be donated to the Utah and HBCU communities by the NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
Additionally, being an NBA player entails more than just playing, winning championships, and earning a respectable salary. Participants also appreciate giving a certain amount of money to individuals in need. As more athletes draw attention to philanthropic causes and give back, fans love them and want to see more of them.

Kevin Durant is a prime example. The College Track chapter was established in Maryland’s Prince George’s County thanks to a $10 million donation from the NBA player. It was the first program in the Washington metropolitan region to give students access to financial aid, tutoring services, and test preparation programs.
LeBron James comes next. LeBron James, one of the few NBA players of our generation who did not attend college, contributed to the league’s emergence by assisting the institution.
Throughout his career, LeBron continually backed numerous educational programs. One of LeBron’s most unforgettable life moments was the school’s opening.
Lastly, we have Stephen Curry. Steph promised to collaborate with USAID and the UN to lower the number of malaria cases around the globe. In 2012, he donated three sleeping nets for each three-pointer he made.
He also promoted the #CallYourShot fundraising initiative in 2016 to aid communities impacted by malaria. For every 10,000 pairs of his renowned sneakers sold for Nothing Except for Sneakers since 2018, he donated one bed for a malaria patient.
These are only a few of the NBA players who donated to charity, helped out the community, and set a great example for young children. The list continues to grow as years pass by and only proves that these athletes are indeed worthy of all the support they get.
