Faith Newman, daughter of Sharon and Nick Newman, of CBS’ daytime series ‘The Young and the Restless,’ found a new face with ‘American Housewife’ alum Reylynn Caster after Alyvia Alyn Lind left the show in 2021.
Fans were definitely surprised by Lind’s abrupt leave for two reasons. First was that she had been in it since she was three. She joined the cast in 2011, and everyone saw her grow as an actress as she played Faith for over a decade. Second, she exited at a crucial and pivotal moment of her character arc.
But the reason behind her exit wasn’t anything dramatic. In fact, it was worth a celebration because Lind snagged not just a lead role but one of the lead roles (as Lexy Taylor) in a SyFy original series adapted from the blockbuster horror franchise, ‘Chucky.’

The primetime TV opportunity was just too good to pass up. It was also a big role which meant that the filming schedule would be hectic and that she couldn’t do both simultaneously (which she had been doing for years). So, she had to sacrifice.
Speaking with Soap Opera Digest, the actress shared that she had difficulty opening up about the fact that she was leaving the show. She was even in denial over it for so long, so her last day on set impacted her more than expected.
“My last day was so emotional. I was in denial over it for so long, and then in the last five minutes it just kind of hit me … and then the floodgates,” she admitted. She also said that the studio held a lot of memories for her. As sappy as it sounded, the best and her favorite part about being Faith was having an on-screen family.
In an unpredictable business like the entertainment industry, the cast became her stable rock. Just like her character, she was always surrounded by a supporting, loving family.
Aside from the cast and the crew, Lind was also thankful to the show’s writers for giving her such a great storyline.
She said:
“Nobody’s perfect and I loved being able to explore Faith’s dark side. And I’m not sure what’s in store for Faith, but I will always believe that deep down, she’s a good person with a good heart. She just strayed off her path for a beat.“
Before she left the show for good, Faith had just suffered a car crash and sustained injuries, so she was taken to the hospital. As it turned out, she stole a truck while drunk.
Following her final air show as Faith Newman, actress Sharon Case who plays her on-screen mother, shared a post on social media. She uploaded a then-and-now photo of them together on set.
