Ice Dancer Gabriella Papadakis Has a Wardrobe Malfunction, Saying It’s the Worst Nightmare Ever!

During the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, French ice dancer Gabriella Papadakis experienced one of her worst nightmares ever, a severe wardrobe malfunction. Her left breast was exposed during her performance, leaving everyone stunned. 

Papadakis was flawlessly skating to the hit Ed Sheeran song ‘Shape of You’ thinking the act would go as smoothly as they wished it would. However, as her partner Guillaume Cizeron lifts her from the ground, Papadakis never anticipated experiencing one of her worst nightmares ever.

The move resulted in her costume becoming undone and exposing her breast. Audiences from all over the world are worried and speechless about what has happened. Of course, Papadakis wouldn’t let such a wardrobe malfunction shatter all her hard work and Olympic dreams. 

So, instead of overthinking things, Papadakis kept her mind clear and powered through her short act. Her dedication and passion for the sport paid off as she and Cizeron came in second place with 81.93 points. 

After the said event, Papadakis revealed her feelings during the situation. The ice dancer stated that she felt it right away, but rather than stressing out about it, she prayed that the routine would still go smoothly instead.

Despite the mishap, Papadakis knew she had to keep going. In an interview, she stated that it was pretty distracting and thought it was one of the worst things that could happen to her at the Olympics. However, she just told herself that she didn’t have a choice and that the only thing she could do was to keep going.

Just thinking about that time made her so proud of herself and her partner Cizeron since, despite the situation, they could still deliver a great performance. Audiences watching all over the world were impressed by Papadakis’ resilience and dedication. 

Fans quickly showed their support on social media to cheer on the French dancer, saying that her confidence stood out during one of the worst things that no athlete wishes to experience. That said, as the incident became trending across the globe, NBC decided to edit the accidental R-rated gaffe out of future broadcasts and videos online. 

But for those who didn’t know, this is the second time a wardrobe malfunction has happened during the PyeongChang Games. Even South Korean ice dancer Yura Min has also suffered a similar incident after her costume became unhooked just seconds into her routine with partner Alexander Gamelin. It goes to show that such incidents happen from time to time.

When Did Her Career Start?

As early as a child, Papadakis has already been exposed and introduced to the ice skating world, considering her father is an ice skating coach and entrepreneur. She kickstarted her career with partner Cizeron in 2009 when they first entered their big competition, joining ISU Junior Grand Prix series. 

Since then, Papadakis has stayed relevant through the years, with her now joining world cups and the Olympics. However, as of 2023, Papadakis and Cizeron have decided to take a break from attending any competitions as they prepare themselves for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

In a statement, Cizeron assured their fans that they are not stopping for good, and if they did, they would surely announce it. Papadakis then continued by saying they are in the process of creating something new coupled with their will as artists, which is a good reason to come back. 

Gabriella Papadakis’s wardrobe malfunction during the 2018 Winter Olympics has undoubtedly made her stronger and more confident than ever. Of course, her fans are always excited to see her back in the ice ring.
