Actor Michael B. Jordan has a reputation for being the ladies’ favorite, whether on-screen or off-screen, so news of him being off-the-market caused many hearts to break.
So, who was the woman they were all jealous of? Well, her name was Lori Harvey. Yes, the model, entrepreneur, and daughter of Family Feud host Steve Harvey.
Despite that, those hearts rooted for the couple. No one can argue that they didn’t look so good together. Because they really did, and we even dare say they looked immaculate.
Besides, even Harvey’s dad gave the actor his stamp of approval. So, that meant Steve thought he was good for her, and they were also good for each other – and we know how protective he can get with his daughter.
Sadly, their love story ended after a year and a half of dating. In June 2022, news of their breakup grabbed multiple headlines. According to PEOPLE’s source, Jordan and Harvey were completely heartbroken and still very much loved each other.
Let’s reminisce every chapter of their almost two-year relationship.
Chapter 1: On Candle Lights, Rose Petals, and Red Carpets

In an interview with Bustle, Harvey mentioned that they had actually met a few years before they started dating. They had some mutual friends, and she recalled meeting him, just in passing, and thinking he was cute. That very casual meeting turned into a sweet love story years later.
In November 2020, TMZ captured the two when they touched down in Harvey’s hometown in Atlanta, Georgia, after flying from Los Angeles. It looked like the two planned to spend Thanksgiving with Harvey’s family. Although their relationship status was in limbo at the time, fans were quite convinced they were dating even if there was no public confirmation.
Then, by the end of December, the two enjoyed the snow in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were photographed by The Sun, but they didn’t post any photos of them together.
They only shared a few snaps of their fun trip separately. However, Jordan uploaded a since-deleted photo of his snowboarding attempt with a very interesting caption, “New year new things, ” which foreshadows them taking the next step in their relationship.
After months of speculation, on January 10, 2021, the two finally hard-launched their relationship. Of course, fans showed their support for the two.
Then, just three days after becoming Instagram official, they celebrated Harvey’s birthday, and the couple didn’t shy away from sharing their lovely time together. One was a photo of them adorably bundled up with each other, and the other was a video of them in the snow. The post was captioned with a turtle emoji – which was apparently Jordan’s cute pet name for Harvey.
Harvey shared with BET that it was because she took too long to get ready, and he said she moved on turtle time.
Speaking of turtles, the two spent their first Valentine’s Day under the sea style! In Harvey’s Instagram Story, she revealed that the actor rented a whole aquarium so that they could do a private tour and see the turtles. Then, for the final part, they walked into an underwater tunnel with a candlelit trail adorned with rose petals toward a very romantic and luxurious dinner for two.
Even the overprotective Steve Harvey was also happy for them and supportive of their relationship. In fact, during iHeartRadio’s The Steve Harvey Morning Show, the host gave him his stamp of approval.
He said that he liked him but always kept a thumb-size section in his heart filled with nothing but pure hatred for his ass – just in case he needed it. (Well, that was what he would always say to everyone he liked or approved for his daughter.)

He also funnily added, “Cause, you ain’t the sexiest man in the world to me! Let’s be clear about that.”
While everyone was happy to see the two celebrate their love, they were curious about one thing: Why did Jordan decide to be public about it after being so private about his personal life for a long time?
In an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said there was a premeditated plan to stay away from the public eye. As we all know, the public can be ruthless, and the actor felt that being in it was sometimes a spontaneity and intimacy killer.
He then continued, saying that he wanted to give them the best chance to be somewhat normal despite living in a “weird world.” But long story short, the decision to make it public was just a matter of timing. “It was the right time for me. Yeah. I’m happy,” he said.
But that didn’t mean his business was all out and about for the public to consume. He still very much valued his privacy, and he would always protect it.
Speaking with PEOPLE, he said he just wanted to put it out there. Besides, as he got older, he became more comfortable with the fact that his work put him squarely into the spotlight. So, for him, it was a moment to take ownership of that and then return to work.
Harvey echoed the same thoughts, being a very private person as well. She shared that whenever they would snap a photo, they would discuss whether they wanted to post it or just keep it to themselves.
She added, “We know there are people that love and support us and want to see us. So [we want to] give just enough, but keep the majority of it just for us. We’re trying to find a balance.”
Capping off their year was their first anniversary, which they celebrated in November 2021 with a custom-made Chef’s Tasting dinner. Jordan posted a few photos of their night, but Harvey, on the other hand, captured the entire night.
Then, in March 2022, the two made their highly-anticipated red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty. Jordan rocked a metallic black tuxedo while Harvey stunned with her very intricately designed shimmering dress. The two looked like a god and a goddess who descended on Earth for a quick getaway. They were phenomenal.
Chapter 2: On Different Pages
Sadly, after a year and a half of dating, a source told PEOPLE they broke up and went their separate ways. They also added that they were completely heartbroken and still loved each other. It was just that they were on different pages of their love story.
Jordan was ready to take on the next chapter, but Harvey wasn’t.
According to the source, Jordan matured greatly in the relationship, learning to be vulnerable for the first time. They experienced great times together, and it was no question that they brought out the best in each other.
He let down his guard with her and was ready to commit to her long-term. Unfortunately, Harvey wasn’t ready to, and she was very focused on her career at the time. Apart from that, she still craved to have fun and be free.
They were both great people and had a great relationship, but their chapter was now closed. They unfollowed each other on Instagram and wiped out all traces of their relationship. It was like they were never in one. Harvey was the first to do so, and Jordan followed suit.
After news of their breakup hit, Steve also shared his two cents. He said on his show that he was a thousand percent team Lori. She’s his daughter, and he loves and supports her.
He also acknowledged how hard it was to have a successful relationship, especially since they were both young and in the limelight. But as long as everyone could walk away in peace and be friends, that was what mattered.
Chapter 3: Moving On and Forward
In an interview with Essence in December 2022, Harvey underscored that she wanted to be known for her accomplishments and not the people she dated (or dates). For the longest time in her life, she felt like she was always attached to something or someone, but this time, the moment was all about her.
She also said she would no longer compromise her happiness for anybody. “I know my worth, and I know my value. I’m not going to compromise that, or settle, or accept anything less than what I know I deserve.”
Steve also shared in Today with Hoda and Jenna that his daughter was in a really good place. However, he didn’t give details about it as she requested him not publicly share information about her personal life.
Instead, he spoke up about the reality of his daughter growing up as a public figure. He said that hers was publicized, unlike everybody else who could make mistakes in the cloak of darkness. But over the years, she had done a good job figuring it out and getting things right.
“I think she’s content with Lori and I think that’s a great place for her to start from.”
On the other hand, Jordan made a lighthearted joke about their split, which he called his “first public breakup,” during his opening monologue on SNL last January 2023.
He said that most people, after a breakup, train to get in better shape. But he was already at the top of that game after “Creed.” So, he opted to learn a new language and then proceeded to say in Spanish, “Estoy en Raya.”
Translation: He’s in Raya, an exclusive dating app, and he’s single and definitely ready to mingle.
Chapter 4: Status
Harvey dated again a few months after her split with Jordan. Last December 2022, she was spotted with British actor Damson Idris on a night out in LA. A month later, they were Instagram official.
The two were very showy on social media, including posts attending Beyoncé’s May concert and a Saint-Tropez trip in July. Aside from leisure activities, the two were also very openly supportive of each other’s careers.
Harvey attended Idris’ final season premiere of Snowfall. Then, Idris was seen posing with Harvey at the launch party of her swimwear brand “Yevrah Swim,” which is exclusively sold at Revolve.
Unfortunately, the couple broke up after almost a year of dating. However, they recently sparked “getting back together” rumors after they were sighted exiting side by side at the Renaissance World Tour concert film held in Los Angeles.
On the other hand, Jordan remained single – at least, that’s what we know. If any romantic-related topic came up involving him, it was when Selling Sunset’s Bre Tiesi revealed during the Season 7 reunion that the actor wasn’t good in bed.
He did not comment on it, probably because he was busy with his own projects, including the development of the fourth installment of “Creed,” where he would make his directorial debut. Franchise producer Irwin Wrinkler revealed the news, but details were still being discussed.
