The show “Martin,” starring Martin Lawrence and Tisha Campbell, which debuted in 1992, was considered one of the most influential and pivotal sitcoms of all time. During its run time, it was also Fox’s highest-rated show.
However, after five years, five seasons, and one sexual harassment claim later, it ended abruptly.
That is because Campbell accused Lawrence of sexually harassing her repeatedly to the point of escalation. The actress also added sexual battery, verbal abuse, and other related threats to her claim.
She only agreed to shoot the fifth – and final – season of the show under the condition that they would have no scenes together. They ultimately settled their case outside of court.

Then in 2022, twenty-five years since the show ended, the whole cast met again for a reunion-slash-celebration. In an episode of the PEOPLE Every Day podcast, Campbell shared that she was really nervous about getting back together with everyone.
However, it wasn’t because she hadn’t seen them for some time; they were still friends. Instead, she was anxious about whether the show resonated with fans as it did back in the ’90s.
As for her very public rift with Lawrence, which resulted at the end of their show, she said that the excitement of being reunited with each other and honoring their late cast member Tommy Strawn outweighed that negativity from the past. She also added that they’ve all healed from what had happened.

“Everything else is a personal situation that we’ve all healed from. So we’re not even gonna talk about it.”
Lawrence also affirmed that they were on good terms. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the premiere of their reunion show, he shared that there was nothing but love between him and Campbell.
Carl Payne, who played Cole Brown in Martin, also gave his thoughts about the show’s ending back in ’97. He said every family has their own drama, trials, and tribulations, just like theirs, and that every good thing must ultimately come to an end. “I think it could have gone on longer, but it is what it is until it ain’t.”
