After ten episodes of pure, unmitigated chaos, the journey of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 1 cast members finally ended last April 2022.
If you’re new, here’s the premise of the romantic reality TV show by Netflix: Six twentysomethings issue an ultimatum to their partners – commit and get engaged or break up. They then enter the social experiment, which lasts for eight weeks.
For the first week, the participants would date around. Afterward, they will pick a new partner with whom they will spend three weeks for a trial marriage run.
At the end of that period, there’d be a switch-off. The contestants would return with their original partners and spend three weeks with them. Then, a decision will be made whether they’d like to stay with each other, enter their single era, or explore things with their trial marriage partner.
Of course, everyone’s waiting for the juicy details. So, we’re giving you a quick recap of their finale moments and catching you up on where they are now.
Madlyn Ballatori & Colby Kissinger
The two have had a rough two years prior to coming into the show with issues like Madlyn being unsure about marriage and Colby flirting with another girl and even going as far as telling her he was in an open relationship. By the end of it, Colby was down on his one knee, wearing a cowboy hat and jeans, and asked Madlyn to marry him.
And here’s the kicker: They also exchanged vows right there and then. No family or friends, just vibes.
Now, they’re parents to two beautiful children. On May 2, 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, Josephine Riley. Then, on September 13, 2023, they introduced fans to their second child, Conrad Lloyd.
Shanique Imari & Randall Griffin
After dating for one-and-a-half years and eight weeks on the show, Randall finally proposed to Shanique. They got engaged on the show, but six months later, they decided to call off their engagement and take a step back. The two explored their single era – Shanique went on a few dates while Randall just flew solo.
They got back together and made a conscious effort to restart and rebuild their relationship. Last July 2023, Randall got on one knee again, and there was no backing out this time. They were all in and ready to enter the next chapter of their life together.
Alexis Maloney & Hunter Parr
Alexis and Hunter didn’t finish the show and left after getting engaged in episode 3. They realized they didn’t want to go through a trial marriage with anyone else. They moved to Los Angeles, California, afterward with their Pomsky, Poppy Parr, and started planning their wedding.
Then, on June 18, 2022, they finally got hitched. The wedding was set in a romantic outdoor ceremony at the famed Wayfarers Chapel and Palos Verdes Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. Alexis shared snaps from their wedding on her Instagram Story, including the two of them dancing at the reception to band performances of Elton John’s “Tiny Dancer” and Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love.”
Lauren Pounds & Nathan Ruggles
Lauren and Nathan were two-and-a-half years in, and they were at a crossroads. Nate wanted kids, and she had reservations. However, the two quickly knew that even though they had reached that point, they had to set an ultimatum: they loved each other.
So, they wrapped things up on the show and got engaged. By episode four, they were out of the show.
Since then, the two have become closer to each other, and they were able to share deeper conversations about life. As for kids, they agreed to have one child, but they’d be taking a few years to enjoy their life as a married couple before taking on that chapter.
The two officially became husband and wife on October 1, 2022. They had a beautiful outdoor wedding with family and friends celebrating their union with them.

These two didn’t just end up breaking up on the show, but there was also a whole lot of chaos between them that unfolded.
Just like Lauren and Nathan, Rae and Zay hit a crossroads after dating for two and a half years because Zay was still hesitant to start a family. Then, in episode 8, the two ultimately broke things off. They didn’t see each other at the finale, and Rae blocked him on everything, cutting off their communication.
When they met at the reunion episode, accusations were hurled. Rae called out her ex for saying that she hooked up with fellow contestant Jake when he himself was fooling around with Shanique. Things got heated, and Zay momentarily walked out of the set.
As for their love life status, Rae said she was figuring out her sexuality. She had been very uncomfortable with being bi for the longest time. “But since Zay and I have been done, I’ve just been with one girl and that’s been kind of great, honestly,” she shared.
Zay, on the other hand, is single and ready to mingle. He hopes to change that to “taken” when he gets on Perfect Match.
April Marie & Jake Cunningham
Another couple that broke up on the show was April and Jake.
The exes were together for two years before April allegedly dragged him into the show. Jake connected with Rae during the switch-off and second-guessed his relationship with April. Ultimately, he decided he wasn’t ready for marriage, and they broke up.
Jake reconnected with Rae (who also broke up with her partner) and proposed they go on a trip after the show. She accepted, though it didn’t really materialize. According to Rae, they chose not to go on the trip out of respect for their exes.
Following the breakup, April was set up by a friend of hers with an Austin-based real estate broker named Cody Cooper. Apparently, her friend and Cody worked at the same agency.
The two got to know each other, and after the season finale aired, she debuted him on her Instagram. Then, on August 12, 2023, they welcomed their first child together.
Jake, like Zay, is currently single and trying to recoup from what had happened on the show.
