Hill was engaged to Scott Hendricks, while McGraw was dating Kristine Donahue. The “Don’t Take the Girl” singer married his rural sweetheart in his homeland of Louisiana in October 1996 after a brief courtship. On their Soul2Soul tour, the pair shared their love with audiences across the nation and later the globe. The couple welcomed three daughters: Grace in 1997, Maggie in 1998, and Aubrey in 2001—all between tours, award ceremonies, and recording singles.

In late 1994, the country singers debuted at Nashville’s New Faces Concert. McGraw was seeing Kristine Donahue then, and Faith Hill had just announced her divorce from Daniel Hill. They traveled together on the Spontaneous Combustion tour two years later.

September 1996: First public appearance as a couple

The singers became intensely in love with one another after traveling together. They invited friends and family to a softball game and concert on October 6 in Rayville, Louisiana. However, they surprised everyone by getting married instead.

May 1997: They had their first child plus their first chart-topping hit together

After their impromptu wedding, things between the country stars only became hotter. In January 1997, the “Wild One” singer flaunted her expanding baby bulge as they arrived for the 24th annual American Music Awards. Four months later, Grace, their first child, was born.

In May of that year, the pair released their first joint single, “It’s Your Love,” from Tim McGraw’s “Everywhere” album. The song and its corresponding music video, which showed a heavily pregnant Hill, were both positively and profitably received by the public. 

The song won Single, Song, Video, and Best Vocal Event of the Year at the 1997 Academy of Country Music Awards and spent six weeks on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs list.

August 1998: The second daughter of the couple was born

July 2000: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw embarked on a joint tour

The Soul2Soul Tour was a collaboration between the two commercially famous crooners in 2000. The two were on a cross-country tour from July 2000 through December of the same year. The tour raked in around $50 million. It attracted almost 950,000 people to 63 gigs, of which 60 were sold out, according to a 2006 Billboard Boxscore report.

February 2017: The Ellen DeGeneres Show appearance

In February 2017, Tim and Faith appeared together on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and spoke candidly about their children. Like most parents, the singers claimed that despite their children being old enough, they are still not ready to see them dating.

April 2017: They embarked on one more tour together

Together, the two started another tour called Soul2Soul: The World Tour. The two started their tour in April 2017 and played 80 sold-out venues. Because of the two’s success, they decided to extend it until the summer of 2018.

November 2017: The couple’s eagerly anticipated duet album was published

In the same month, they held a lavish celebration for Tim McGraw’s Here on Earth, his 15th studio album. They hosted a gathering with family, which Faith Hill documented in a video for social media. The Mississippi native and her spouse danced to “Damn Sure Do” in the video.

August 2021: Tim McGraw attributes his awakening to Faith Hill

Tim McGraw remembered the moment he decided to stop drinking. He claimed the final straw was “getting out of and heading to the liquor cabinet and taking a big shot at 8:00 in the morning and thinking, ‘I have to wake the kids.” He then went to Faith Hill and told her what was happening. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw were cast as James and Margaret Dutton in the precursor to the network’s “Yellowstone” at Paramount titled “1883” in 2021. The couple has received praise for portraying the Montana ranch’s founders in the television series “1883” since its first broadcast.

October 2022: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw commemorate their 26th wedding anniversary

“Wow, 26 years!” McGraw posted a video of special moments he’s had with Hill over the past 25 years on Instagram, along with a sweet message.

Despite being together for nearly 27 years, Tim and Faith’s solid relationship is still strong. Throughout their two decades of marriage, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s relationship was also doubted by many. Following the claimed “fights, secrets, and lies” during their marriage, several tabloids and magazines questioned the stability of their union.

These rumors were dismissed as the couple slapped this news back down and proved they were still pretty much in love. Another proof that there is now the way these music royalties are breaking up is the happy family that they were able to build.
