Everything You Need To Know About Nicolas Cage’s Three Children

Action star Nicolas Cage is a dad of three children: Weston with his ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton, Kal-El with his third wife Alice Kim, and August Francesca with his now-wife Riko Shibata.

His kids have quite the age gap. Weston was born in 1990, and Kal-El arrived fifteen years later. Then, in 2022, he welcomed his youngest and only daughter. Cage ensured that every one of his kids received the love and care they all deserved because family always came first.

Chatting with PEOPLE, he shared that there would never be a version of him that would put his career over his family. In fact, just last June 2023, actress Minnie Driver shared an anecdote on her Instagram showing how true that statement was.

Underneath a post by IAmThirtyAF detailing a couple getting asked to give up their wedding suite for a celebrity guest – who was later revealed as Cage – Driver wrote a heartwarming comment. She said she once rode the same plane as the actor, and he purchased a seat for his son’s imaginary friends. The post quickly went viral.

So, with those things out of the way, let’s meet Cage’s children one by one.

Cage’s oldest child, Weston, was born to Cage and his ex Christina Fulton on December 26, 1990, just after Christmas Day. Like his parents, who are both actors, he’s creative.

First, he was into music, founding the black metal band Arsh Anubis in 2011, where he also served as the frontman. He also fronted another band called Eyes of Noctum. Weston even got his father into the genre, which, according to Loudwire, was definitely surprising since the actor had long been a fan of rock music, and those were two very different styles.

Here’s what Cage had to say about it: “Black metal is something that gets a pretty bad rap because of the church burnings and so on, but the music itself came from classical music!”

Second, he’s also into acting, with credits in his father’s films. He made his big screen debut when he was 15, in 2005, in Lord of the War. Since then, he has appeared in several movies, with his most recent one in the 2021 drama comedy movie “Fear and Loathing Aspen” as a Hells Angel.

According to Weston, this career line was encouraged as his parents are actors and even expected of him since he spent much of his childhood creating stories with friends and videotaping them. But being part of a famous family was challenging because people accused him of nepotism, and he described it as “ferocious.” Sometimes, he would communicate with people, and they already had their definition of him when they hadn’t even known him.

As for his love life, he’s been married thrice. In 2011, he tied the knot with musician Nikki Williams. But they split two years later, and then he married Danielle Cage, with whom he shared two sons, Lucian (2014) and Sorin (2016).

Unfortunately, the two divorced after welcoming Sorin. Then, in 2018, he wed Hila Cage Coppola, and they have twins together.

His family, especially his second one, helped him recover from substance abuse. Opening up about his journey toward sobriety with PEOPLE, he shared that he got to a point where he was digging his own grave, and the trinity – Danielle, Lucian, and his father – kept him.

Kal-El Coppola

Cage welcomed his second child, Kal-El, on October 3, 2005, with his third wife of 12 years, Alice Kim.

The former couple first met in 2004 at a restaurant in LA where Kim worked as a waitress, and it was a whirlwind romance as they tied the knot just two months after meeting each other. They decided to do this so Kim could travel with Cage to South Africa for his “Lord of War” filming. Then, a year later, they had their first son.

Their son’s name, Kal-El, was inspired by Superman’s Kryptonian name. Cage’s interest came as he was initially cast as the superhero in Tim Burton’s Superman movie. Unfortunately, it was canceled.

Kal-El followed in his father’s and older brother’s footsteps, landing his debut Hollywood role at 13. It was a voice acting role as the young Bruce Wayne in “Teen Titans GO! To the Movies” in 2018.

Then, in 2021, the young Cage joined his dad and his brother for the LA premiere of the actor’s movie “Pig.” They even posed for a photo together.

August Francesca Coppola Cage

After 17 years, on September 7, 2022, Cage’s youngest and only daughter was born. Her name’s August Francesca, and she’s his child with his current wife, Riko Shibata, whom he met while he was in Japan filming “Prisoners of Ghostland.”

The couple married on February 16, 2021, at Las Vegas’ Wynn Hotel. Then, in January 2022, the couple’s rep confirmed the pregnancy news to PEOPLE.

In April, Cage shared with Access Hollywood that he was “extremely excited” for her third child’s arrival, especially since he would be raising another child while his sons were now all grown up. He said he missed everything he used to do with his kids when they were younger, like going to the toy store, singing lullabies, and rocking in the rocking chair.

The actor was even so excited that he showed a two-month ultrasound of his baby a month before GQ. He adorably described her as a little bean, an edamame to be exact.

It’s not just that he will be a dad again after almost two decades that excited him. It was also the fact that he would be entering the girl-dad territory. He told Kelly Clarkson when he appeared on her show that it would be the biggest adventure of his life.

Last September 2023, August Francesca turned one. For her first birthday, she wore a Supergirl cape.

That’s it! We’ve finally wrapped up our scoop on all three of Nicolas Cage’s children.
