When Pamela Anderson’s miscarriage hit the news in November 2006, it quickly headlined several media outlets. Talking with Us Weekly, who first broke the story, Anderson’s representative, Tracy Nguyen, said that the model actress miscarried the week before (during the filming of her film “Blonde and Blonder”) and asked that her privacy at the time be respected. No other details were provided.
Many speculated that she still might have been in her first trimester. In August 2021, Anderson called Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and joked – or probably subtly hinted – that a bun might be in the oven. Days following her remark, she was photographed with her belly looking slightly swollen, further igniting rumors that she was pregnant.

However, her then-husband Robert Ritchie, also known as Kid Rock, was adamant that she was lying about it. He said that Anderson was partying, drinking champagne, and jumping on tables when he got to Vancouver. They divorced later that month, just four months into their marriage.
Unknown to many, this wasn’t Anderson’s first miscarriage.
Hulu’s biographical TV miniseries Pam & Tommy, a show which reenacts the life of actress Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee (Sebastian Stan) after their sex tape got leaked, revealed that Anderson suffered a miscarriage. However, it was unclear when it happened.
According to the show (shown in Episode 4), it was around January 1996. However, Distractify pointed out a different timeline. In the Mötley Crüe biography titled “The Dirt,” Lee shared, “When Pamela collapsed and lost our first child due to a miscarriage (a Lee family curse, my mother said), the paparazzi were so intent on getting photos, they kept cutting off the ambulance on the way to the hospital.”
He later admitted that he suffered from depression months following their miscarriage, so Anderson threw a huge party for his 33rd birthday, which was on the 3rd of October in 1995.

Additionally, The Daily News mentioned that the actress miscarried in July (presumably in 1995) in their cover story of the birth of Anderson’s first son with Lee on the 6th of June, 1996.
It looked like the show wanted to make the impression that the miscarriage was caused by the sex tape leak to make it more dramatic.
According to a study currently conducted by the National Centre for Miscarriage Research, miscarriage is a traumatic event, one that can often lead to a string of mental health issues for women. Studies say that a month after a miscarriage (or ectopic pregnancy), one in three women displays symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), while 1 in 4 suffers from moderate or severe anxiety.
Allison Rosen, a therapist specializing in treating people who go through infertility, says a deep connection is formed between a parent and an unborn child. Many people don’t understand this, and that’s why they also don’t understand the silent grief that comes with it.
Additionally, there are no rituals or ways to mourn a miscarriage properly. So it usually results in experiencing pain that is quite isolating. That’s why women must get the emotional support they need as they process the feelings of losing a child.
Of course, grief after a miscarriage is not isolated to women. Just like Tommy Lee, many men are also impacted by it. However, no one’s asking about it, mainly because of toxic masculinity and the age-old stereotypes surrounding the topic. They should also be allowed to talk about how they feel about it and be given space and support.
Pamela Anderson may not have commented about her miscarriage and may have had a different way of coping with it, but it surely affected her. Ultimately, her story deserves to be respected.
