Her signature cute shark avatar has caught the attention of many viewers, and in just two years into the industry, she has already achieved several milestones. Gura became the first VTuber to reach the 3-million subscriber mark and was named the fastest-growing VTuber channel.
She made her debut stream on September 13, 2020, under Hololive Production, a virtual YouTuber agency owned by the Japanese tech entertainment company Cover Corporation. She is part of the agency’s English first-generation “-Myth” alongside Ninomae Ina’nis, Takanashi Kiara, Watson Amelia, and Mori Calliope. According to her bio, Gura is “a descendant of the Lost City of Atlantis, who swam to Earth while saying, “It’s so boring down there LOLOLOL!”

Her avatar, which cutely stands at 141 cm, was illustrated by independent VTuber Amashiro Natsuki, also known for designing a few other virtual characters.
Gura is around 9,000 to 10,000 years old – though she almost always forgets how old she is. But she celebrates her birthday every June 20th with her fans, whom she calls chumbuds. She bought her shark hoodie in the human world. She also has a blue trident that is taller than herself! Oh, and in her spare time, she also loves to chat with marine life.
